Arizona Chickens

I am back after 3 weeks My chick after 5 weeks old I keep the heat light in the case almost 2 weeks Please let me know Do i need keep heat light in the case any more I just git this bag of food today $21 not feed them yet Is this good food for them?
It looks as if the top is wire mesh. If so, is it possible to raise the lamp above the brooder? That is what I did as my chicks got older, as well as turning the lamp off during the daytime. I suspended the lamp on a chain so that I could raise it each week. I used a thermometer and watched how the chicks behaved to decide how high to put the lamp.

I am at Country Club & I60, I got my Chick and supply at Feed Barn in Mesa, if you guy know an other store please let me know.
This is my first 4 chick, I don't know what type of food good for them, I told the staff I my chick 5 weeks old I need the best food for them, they give me, this bag

I will call them back today see they have another organic food for my chick.
Thanks for all helping me

OK, how do you stress a tree? My big moringa is planted against a south facing wall. It gets irregular waterings and I rarely fertilize the bed that its in. Do I withhold water? Never fertilize?
Was your tree putting on blossoms? If it was it's not a tree problem but a pollinating problem. Mine put on hundreds of blossoms and did nothing until the bees found it. If it's not putting on blossoms( which I doubt it will now that it's cooler) It's most likely a nutrition problem. Phosphorus is good for roots and blossoms.

Medicated, means medicine.. You would need medicine only if your chicks are sick. There is separate medicine you add to their water, only when they need it. That bag will last you a very long time for just 4 chick's. The whole purpose of having chicken's for us is to have heathly chickens.. Medication in our opinion is not necessary.. What you feed your chicken's will come out into the egg's and meat.. No Thanks on medicated feed..

Yes and No. Do you remember the two palo verde trees on the left, just before entering my main poultry house? I zig-zagged the pen behind the first tree, only needed to cut it back. So that tree is outside the pen. The second tree, which was larger, is right in the pen. I cut it WAY back, so all the branches are under 6' so I could put the wire over the top. My hope is, it will recover and I will let it grow up through the wire. Even a lightly-leaved palo verde tree provides a lot of shade. The amount of sunlight now coming through and hitting the south side of the poultry house is greatly increased. I hope my drastic pruning will not kill the tree.

The medicine in chick starter is for coccidia, a protozoan parasite which causes severe diarrhea and death in chicks. Coccidia (sometimes abbreviated cocci and should not be confused with "cocci" as in "gram positive cocci" like Staphylococcus (bacteria) or "cocci" as in coccidiodiomycosis otherwise known as valley fever, which is caused by a fungus.) If coccidia is not a problem in your area, you do not need to medicate. I have never medicated chicks and never had a problem with it. It seems to be more of a problem in wetter climates. Not to say it can't occur in Arizona, just not as much a problem.

The other thing to consider as you raise your birds is your own philosophy on organic versus non-organic. The Purina feeds are not organic. That means the ingredients are GMO, genetically modified to resist Roundup. 90% of the corn, soy, canola, and cotton grown in this country are GMO and they spray the heck out of the crops with Roundup. So that chemical is in the feed. If you look on the ingredient list on the bag, I bet the top two ingredients are soy and corn. If you feel like a lot of us on this thread, who only feed organic, that the GMO, chemically-laden, feed is bad for us, then you do not want to feed this to your birds. As it will end up in your food supply eventually when you eat their eggs and if you eat their meat. The bag has to say "certified organic" on it, or it is not organic. None of the medicated feeds are organic.

I'm feeding BarAle organic non-gmo grower that I pick up at the local Pet Club. It's from Williams, CA and my adult birds are fed Renew Poultry pellets, also organic non-gmo. Pet Clubs are all over the valley but I would call first to see if they carry it. Shoppers Supply in Chandler carries it too and their prices are lower.
