Got my second pen up today, now that the rain finally stopped. Needed the room, my two "junior" Jersey Giant roosters have been facing off all day.

Good for you! My place is a muddy mess and several low areas have ponds. A couple of my white orps can pass for chocolates right now. I have to build out another area too but will wait until it dries out. How much rain did you get these past few days? My rain gauge has over 2".

No idea on the rainfall amount, but a lot! At least the mud is easy to dig in! Worked on the pen until the moon came up, will post some pics tomorrow.

...I think I must have gotten something like 8 inches it seems or more, lol. My "White," leghorns look like a dirty buff color.

Not to bad, the duck's were happy.. They ate a ton of worms that came up from the ground.. If we had snails they would be even more happy..

The rain encouraged some large grubs to wiggle their way to the surface in my raised garden bed. My chickens were extremely happy with this rare treat!

I had over two inches as well - my girl's yard is so muddy it'll take two or three days of that sunshine to get it dried up!! I'm still not able to do much lifting, raking, etc but if I break things up in 15 minutes pieces with at least a half hour rest in between it'll work out and I'll have the yard cleaned up by next weekend!!! (or not) Still a little goes a long way in a muddy yard.

Where I am, we got just about three inches of rain and my girls pen is about 2 inches of mud so today I decided to let them out and free range. And my leghorn is brown!
