Arizona Chickens

My Barred Rock cockerel is attempting to crow. LMBO....He starts off strong but just chokes out towards the end. He just turned 3 months old and I honestly thought it would be a few more weeks before he gave it a try, but he began...uh...serenading this afternoon.

I love chickens. They just bring me so much joy. :cd

... soo true! :)

@FeatherPugs @cyborg And anyone else on this thread.......right!??

@moms3cuties The eggs are Golden Cuckoo Marans. Not a good idea to hold those eggs until after this hatch, they'll be too old. They're probably too big to stack in there. Do you have a broody hen? One good reason to have a silkie or orpington hen!

Burt is chasing around both jungle fowl, "pretty & tiny" they are out and about most of the day ignoring him.. They are fast so he get's a run for his $ :lau however that means their egg's are fertile.. @K9Dave has the only 2 jungle fowl /barnyard mix, that we hatched out..

More Jersey pics. The ladies are enjoying a little sun (pig-pile!), and partaking of some fresh salad for brunch.

looks like a nice area, what do you use to keep them protected from the Sun or are you going to try to grow up some grape vines around them And other foliage? Do you have a bigger picture of the area it looks really nice!

Yes, right now it is 20' x 30', and shaded by mesquite trees. Next payday, it will be enlarged to 30' x 30', and I will be using shade cloth and grape vines. The shade cloth is particularly useful, not only for shade, but for excluding feed stealing sparrows! Will get some more pics up later today. Spent most of Sunday putting welded wire fencing over the top, and have the blisters to prove it. Haven't done that much wire tying in years!

Ouch!
Great job, hopefully your hands don't take too long to heal from that. AND...I know who to call over if I make myself an enclosure! :D
