Hi all need help on this I bought some hatching eggs from someone on the eggs for sale forum they came covered with chicken crap which was a pretty nasty thing to send. But my question is one of the eggs I bought is long and narrow should I even try to hatch one like that??

Are they providing the cages? I'd like to bring my bantam Wyandotte rooster, but I don't own a cage.

If you want to bring him to show, the entry deadline has passed. Only exhibitors are allowed to bring birds for sale.

@AZChiknGoddess is travelling north to Chino Valley tomorrow. She said she'd deliver or meet someone interested in my bantam black Wyandottes chicks or eggs. I have 4 chicks about 6 days old as well as lots of eggs.

The chicks are $12.00/each or $40.00 for all four.

Eggs are $25.00/half dozen or $40.00/dozen.

Note: I think there is a black Ameraucana or two hiding in that bowl.

ugh on the poopy eggs. I had a few in my batch that were dirty, but was pre-warned by the seller that due to the wet weather, some eggs were soiled. I carefully and gently rinsed them off with warm water, keeping the egg upright the entire time. I wavered on whether to rinse or not, but I really didn't want to put dirty eggs in the bator along with the clean ones. So, I rinsed. My decision.

As for the long and narrow one, might as well stick it in and see what happens. You can always remove it later if it isn't viable. Good luck

I was taught NOT to wash the eggs because it will destroy the protective, anti-bacterial coating. Instead, if it amounts to more than a few small spots of poop on an egg you can gently sand that off with a fine grit sandpaper or Scotchbrite pad, being careful not to sand into the shell. A little bit of poop on an egg isn't enough to cause a problem. A lot of poop...that's a problem.

I'm the proud new mom of sextuplets Turkens! I'm guessing their birthday was around St. Patrick's day so they will have Irish names but until I know them a little more and can tell the same colored ones apart better I'm not going to name them. Only one has a completely naked neck, I picked the least feathered necked ones I could find. The lady at the feed store thought I was a bit crazy for looking so closely at every one they had but she also said she wished more people were as excited about them as I was. I have no idea what colors they'll be other than the black ones of course but I don't care, I'm just so happy and also nervous since they are so tiny and fragile!
