Arizona Chickens

I'm so upset. I went outside and found one of my Bielefelder cockerels lying dead on the ground. He was one of my breeders! I think my NN Turken cockerels may have run him to death, but I can't be sure it wasn't something else. Now I'm down a breeder...and I couldn't even process him for meat since I don't know for certain what killed him. :hit

oh no way! They are the sweetest breed..
Condolences from us. . Hug's. .

they're just too hard to resist when they're babies. Can you put the photos?

I got a couple of current photos today. Here they are!

PhxBirds, that organic layer feed is bought through an informal buying club ( tucsonorganicfeed.com for the Tucson area folks), not a wholesaler or feed company. A bunch of people in Phoenix and Tucson combine their orders for organic feed from a grain supplier in Montana. It is freshly milled and shipped down on one truck, with a drop point in Phoenix and another in Tucson. People go to the drop point at a specific time to pick up the order when the truck comes in. Next order deadline is 7/25. Pickup for that order will be in mid August. Next order after this will be a September deadline with a mid-October delivery.

The trickiest part about getting feed through the buying club is figuring out how much you are going to need, versus how much room you have available for storage.

If you are in the Phoenix area you can go to the tucsonorganicfeed.com website and email them, asking them how to sign up for the Phoenix group.

Thank you for correcting my mistakes.

Yes I have adds out of craigslist and will take some to thw swapmeet if I have too.I had to get a job and now their care and it is really hard on him. I love my chickens but have to put him first. I have to sell about 54 chickens to pare down to half and have to do it pretty quickly. Hope to find buyers who will care for them with love too

Where are you located and how much are you asking?

Lacy are you coming this way??

:he   The fan went out on my home made incubator and it over heated before I could unwire the fan.  The temp spiked at 109 but the embryos seem alive and kicking. They are due to hatch this weekend and I already have one external pip. I think temperature spikes are not as deadly to older embryos as they are to fragile new ones?  Anyway :fl for @moms3cuties
and I that our chicks hatch out OK.

Any pip's today??

Didn't intend it to be aimed at you. Sorry if it felt that way. I could have worded it differently.

Just trying to clarify a common misperception about the buying club. The people who organize the feed order are not a business, and the misperception of it being a business has potential legal ramifications for the organizers. Putting together that feed order is a lot of work. I am glad they do it, because it gives us all additional buying options.
