Arizona Chickens

One of my chicks. Her name is Clara.

I am in Scottsdale and wanting to buy a coop and baby chicks, probably 12. I am worried about the summer months because we travel so I will need to rely on friends to help take care of our chickens. I want to get them young and we have a casita they can stay in until ready to go into the coop. I have been looking at coops to buy, anyone have a great one they love? Also a good place in the Phoenix area to buy the chicks?

Our neighborhood does 2 progressive dinner parties a year. One in the spring & one in the fall.. here's my attempt to make chick's with hat's.. i think i might need to make the yolk mixture thicker. . I used olives for the eye's & orange bell pepper for the nose.

Lauren is leaving a surprise..
Another great morning for tea in the garden
good morning and the moringa seeds were in mailbox overnight. Thank you. Bought gallon of each red and white barn paint. I think that might improve the pallet palace coop.

I sure know the moringa will. The weather has been gorgeous. We are up to 35 chicks. Cuteness factor got Linda. 15 are Bantams. Lol half of which I am not sure what they are. But they are very cute. The silkies will probably live forever. Think a few blue Cochin. Lot of feather footed fluff balls. A real pleasure to watch the assorted chicks tuck in and keep each other warm. Yes the heat lamp is on. Lol party all night they do. I ramble pics after I paint the back wall. Still need too build front wall of coop.

:thumbsup to photos!

How does one give roosters away.... im having a hard time with this XD

some of us consider roos fast food. Us farm boys anyways.

Yep, coq au Vin.. It takes awhile to make..

Oh, these guys wouldn't be worth the plucking process. They're like, Pee Wee bantams. So you'd probably only get a snack size basket out of them XD

I know it suck's, but if you give your chicken away, you never know if they are used for meat or fighting.. So we still don't waist.. We don't re-home a cockerel unless we know the person..
Half of our barnyard mix"s have been cockerels, we have always taken them back from whoever ends up with the boys...

The photo on my phone was turned, it was not fixed when it was posted.. But you get the idea..

Does anyone know if cockerels will get their waddles before the pullets? I have one chicken that is supposed to be a pullet but it is exactly two weeks old today and there is a small waddle already growing with a red tinge to it and none of my other chicks have one yet especially one that's a little red.
