Arizona Chickens

Oooh, I'll look into that, thanks!  @K9Dave
thanks for the generous offer! I live just south of phoenix though, so it's not too bad a drive.

You're welcome. At the right time of day that's a great drive. Good luck. I have major chicken envy. Especially being spring and the little bugers are everywhere it seems.

So I have a dove that continues to get into the school chicken coop and just beat the living crap out of their face and under wings. I'm taking him/her home today and letting them go there, hopefully he will fly off somewhere else, and NOT die in the school chicken coop. If he ends up there again, I swear i'm going to just leave him there.

My teacher trimmed his wings thismorning.... does that make them inable to fly? Should I just keep him as a pet? He would make a good pet <3 His name is Bucky <3 XD

it can't fly right with one wing trimmed, dumb thing to do to a wild bird. What on earth were they thinking?

Quote: I know, I asked her the same thing..... Though when I placed him in the backyard, he took right off and flew atleast a half a mile ti'll I lost sight of him.

I think she only trimmed the tips or both wings, because he had beat them up so much on the chicken wire. He flew fine though, thank goodness. hopefully I dont find him BAKCK in the chicken coop -_-

Has anyone used a air conditioner for their coop? I was going to try fans and misters, but thought AC as a last resort. Does anyone think they work well? How do you install and use it? Thanks

No, but in theory you could install a window unit easily enough in a section of the wall.

I use plastic dishpans with bricks in them filled with water to the level of the brick top; the chickens can go over and sit on the cool bricks when they get too warm.
