Thanks for all the welcomes and warm wishes! I will have some good news to share with everyone soon but I will wait until it is all written in stone. BUT I'm moving to AZ!
That's cool! Now you will have to get all settled in, and get some chickens.

Quote: Not a bit. I think I actually argued against it at one point with her, tbh. I don't have the room or time at the moment for chicks
buuttttttt I cant blame the chicks, and I cant give them back to her, or ACE. Im sure these two would rather be at ACE with their friends instead of in a brooder in my garage.
So im just gonna roll with the punches.
I apprecieted the gift greatly, however mad mom may be.
I just gotta give her a day or two, let her get attatched to them

If anyone is interested let me know , I have lots of red sexlink chicks for sale they are all females , I also have rhode island reds too![]()
I don't recommend breeding a blue or splash to a lavender as it creates a mess with future hatches down the line. Unless you plan on keeping all the chicks, keep very good records, toe punch your chicks so you know which carry the lavender/blue genes, otherwise, I would stay away from that breeding. It's best to breed a lavender to a lavender or to a black.
I would say find a book on genetics, whether you're raising poultry, dogs, cats, cattle etc., culling (not necessarily killing) you stock, just eliminating those who don't make the grade. Those experts explain recessive and/or unwanted genes, and it's good to know the original lineage/history of the breed you're starting with because you don't know what gremlins may be lurking in their original gene pool and may not have been bred out.--BB
