Arizona Chickens

Yes, they are. I decided to concentrate on only building up this one breed for now. I have the breeders type, not the hatchery type.

Ooh, that's really cool!

One thing ive done that my chickens love is i get a container that is pretty big and that is about 1 inch tall and put in the coop and the chickens like to put their feet in there to cool off if it isnt working put like a brick in there

Good idea. :) I've tried that with an extra like Turkey tin thing, I believe, that was just a flimsy little rectangle about an inch deep and every time I put it in there, one of my roosters gets in it and tips it over. lol

WELCOME!!!!

That's definitely NOT pox of any kind, but the result of some light sparring with the other roosters. I have no fewer than eight full-grown roosters and just as many "teenage" cockerels here right now and I'm very familiar with what you're seeing. Sometimes they even damage their combs trying to combat one another through chicken wire, hardware cloth, etc. It will heal just fine on its own without BluKote or any other treatments, but you can always use any antibacterial or antiseptic spray or ointment (or even Desitin, the diaper rash ointment) if you so choose.

I never treat those little scabs either. They heal just fine.

Hello Arizona chickeners. I am chickening in St. Johns Arizona. I have a flock of 11 ladies and I just found out today....one gent that was supposed to be a pullet. We have 40 acres of the most beautiful high desert, but the beauty comes at a price. Hawks, coyotes and foxes keep trying to end my chicken journey. The worse critter (in my opinion) is rattlesnakes. I know they are just making a living from all the pack rats but they freak me out. My gals don't like them either. Any other St. Johnsians out there?

Hi everyone! I'm in Page Az. (Lake Powell) I have Wyandotte's, blues,Columbians, barred rocks , Rhode islands and a white crested blue polish hen. We get pretty hot to , I feel a little silly we set up caged fans so they can't touch them but enjoy the fans. A bit much?

I've seen quite a few people on here using the fans, so no way! :D I'd use 'em, too, if my chickens didn't like to stick their heads in everything.:rolleyes: Thank goodness it's almost time for cooler weather.
