Arizona Chickens

It's been a very long time since I have been on this site. Happy to see the community is still robust.

We had a Coyote (assumed) get all but one hen two nights ago when the coop was forgotten open. Does anyone have hens or pullets for sale?

Thanks,
Joel
Welcome back Joel. Sorry about the coyote - my biggest fear! There's been quite a few on the board. AND they are wonderful, Arizona bred and born chicks/chickens mostly. I find that is a very good thing for our temps. Hang in there.

What cutie pies! That blue color is so pleasing. My little Australorp has been so good about alerting the whole flock whenever a hawk flies over, or a tarantula appears, or dove gets too close...lol they really are a smart breed for the desert I think.
AND they do very well in the heat!!

i have a beautiful blue aussie hen born in 2013 she is very smart , she comes to my back kitchen door and yells for me to come to the door, i go & talk to her telling her she is a good girl , then she goes into her favorite nest box, i have a few nest boxes in the cool air on my covered back porch and all the girls love to lay their eggs there. so she lays her egg , and sings the egg song , but i swear she can read my mind since have been trying to get as many of her eggs as i can to hatch them out ,i cant wait to get more hens like her, she is a most amazing hen ever. but i have 75 birds so who can tell what egg belongs to which hen..? since they are all out free ranging together, i know i should pen her up , but i just can do that to her ,& that could make her depressed & possible stop her from laying eggs, i have heard of things like that happening , and i wont do that to her she loves her freedom and her visits to the kitchen door to come see me , so its been hard to tell which eggs were hers , but some how she figured out how to help me & to tell me when to come and get her eggs , its simply amazing how she is doing this.

I have some extra pullets. Supposed to be black javas. The ones I am selling are showing a mixed ancestry, so I don't want to keep them in my breeding program. They're great if you just want backyard birds. I'm in Tucson.

You can try putting food color on her vent. This way a trace of color will be on the eggs she lays.
