Nope, just an Australorp one! Now that's breakfast! Need some? I have 3 new Blue ones that recently hatched.

My Artemis lays large, rather oval shaped eggs. I always know which eggs are hers because of the shape You are the hatching queen over there, Bluebaby!

I'm glad that these eggs are mostly done hatching with only a few left to go.

I have 2 batches of shipped hatching eggs coming in the end of this week, and those I will need to hold for myself and grow out a bit to see what I have.

That's what I was thinking, maybe they are making a little soft nest? I've never had chicks do that before but how nice of them to tidy up the feathers for you

@SonoranChick yeah so weird the only time I heard of nest making was when they are broody
I'll have to take a pic, maybe I can capture the act on video I saw them doing it but didn't have the cam

Marshmellow has blossomed as a rooster I still think he's the only roo in the 19
He jumped on top of the coop roof and started strutting just like a mini roo... he thought he was king lol

He also took off a piece of the Bush and gave it to the pullett who was with him, BUT
he's also still a baby so he steals the treats from the others still

A tragedy happened late afternoon today... My Mohawkie died.

(Pic in avatar) as a pullett she ran and jumped into my arms when I called her
As a hen she cuddled with me daily, so easy going, sweet Mohawks
She survived that bobcat she was the one that out ran the bobcat
She cuddled with me this morning, looked just fine and healthy
this afternoon I gave them treats she was in the front row eating just fine
Literally 20 minutes later China alerted me to a problem as I get closer Mohawks was dead in the middle of her family under the bush

In a way she was my fave, she was my jealous one didn't like it when others cuddled with me

We will miss her... love ya Mohawkie

Aww I’m so sorry for your loss absolutely heartbreaking to lose an animal.
