what color of show quality orpington chickens do people have here in arizona

The only one of us that I know of that has any orpington chickens at all is @meetthebubus and she has the Buff orpingtons, but I don't think that she shows them.

@bluejello @BlueBaby is correct I don't do shows not my chickens, I'm really into letting chickens live naturally, personally

I do know it's hard to find good Orpington stock that is show quality my rooster would of probably done well in the looks department he would of hated being poked and prodded

A couple things I know is the buff rooster for showing should have a nice bright golden color and have character traits of the Orpington such as docileness here's one of my best pics of him..

I have a couple of older Buff Orpington girls - they are 4 years old. Sweet girls, set in their ways now but always on the lookout for "aliens". I've had my Curley girl sound the alarm when I've gone in to the yard to do something at night. Nothing like cackling hens in the dark!

Yes, June does seem to be the worst. I think that this year we are feeling it more because of the fact that so many day's last month had temps lower than we normally have in May.

I want some ice cream!

And yet when I got my electric bill for May, it said the average temperature for this May was 4 degrees warmer than the average temperature for last May. I agree this year didn't seem so hot, but somewhere it was definitely warmer on average. Maybe the night temps were higher?

UPDATE!!! Had two eggs today with shells!!! Shells feel chalkie is that normal? I did give them calcium citrate with vit d last night and put up misters. Stopped on my way home from work and got some oyster shells. Which they want nothing to do with lol. Just glad to have shelled eggs again! Thanks for everyone’s help!!

I have some birds that consistently lay chalky eggs. They are normal. Not ideal for selling or for hatching from (because you don't want more birds that lay chalky eggs.) But fine for eating.

which two should i enter do you think? I always see very pretty pics they have on their calendars but they are either really posed or so grassy and green, but lets represent chickens in real life too, in the desert!! lol

I don't know about my picking 2 of them, but I think that #5 might work. It has the green leaves on those branches.

Look's like you have just rewarded him for saving the chick from the other roo!

He's been a total gentleman so far! But I can't tell if it's him that makes the girls look tiny, or the girls that make him look so huge!! Haha!
