Arizona Chickens

Anyone seeing snakes yet?
We have seen a rattler on our dirt road and our neighbor found one by their house a week later. Several weeks ago and no sitings since! Although, something is occasionally stealing eggs from my hay barn (I have 2 girls that won't lay anywhere else ), but I'm hoping that it's the decent sized lizard I see running around in there!

I like two and six, but really want to know what type of chicken is pic#4&3

That is Mr Marshmellow Man, he is my Easter egger roo, bought 20 pullets, he was the only rooster thankfully, with that many i could of gotten more than 1 got them at shoppers but they all had pasty butt so I'm guessing that store could of done better by them, then again, most stores don't care for their pullets properly imo lol sorry for the speech! I think I'll go review them online, let them know may be they'll care and be more careful in the future...

Someone has been eating eggs out of my nest boxes. Thought I had some egg-eating chickens until I caught a rock squirrel in the act. I've seen several snakes on my property. They are not eating enough rodents.

We had a squirrel hanging out here for a few years when I first moved here. I had thought it strange, and figured that it had maybe gotten trapped in a moving truck or something from someone moving to this area from someplace else. It's tail was a bit skinnier looking than those I remember seeing before in other places. I haven't seen it around anymore, so something probably got it.

My biggest pest is the prairie dogs they climb the fence to where they can get in and the chickens do nothing

Lately I've had wild quail family come to eat where I leave extra food at to keep the rabbits from digging in, that keeps the rabbits out they know where their food is now, and a bunch of wild quail go there too and I hear them chatting and see that thing on their head bobb about lol

Yep, I feed ground squirrels too - the chickens could care less and they are not scared of me either - little turds! I don't have a rabbit problem - never have (yet) for my yard. I feed quail and other birds(cracked corn) in the front of our house in the desert away from the yard so quail aren't a yard problem either. I love hearing the quail talking to each other. The ones with the dark circle on their tummys are males. Sometimes they get to a high point and just cry out - like crazy - looking for a mate. Sometimes I even get to see little ones being herded by the parents. I love living in the country - I just don't care for the heat lately.

His coloring is so beautiful! why is it that the roos are the prettiest? (I know it's to attract a mate...) but I can't have one where I live.... so it makes me sad...
