Arizona Chickens

It's been alternating between light and hard rain alllll night and this morning, I couldn't be happier! The chickens love the rain. They have the option of staying dry in the coop but no, they want to be out in this weather! Bad news is I forgot to put one of their food containers up, and the DE bag was open a little, so that's trashed. Oh well, when it's only 70 degrees mid June, I can't complain about anything.

Maybe good if allowed to dry out. It is only ineffective when wet. Remember that DE is a mined product that has had much rain go thru it in the centuries before.

But look at the size of that comb and wattles, though!!!!! It's amazing he doesn't fall on his face from the sheer weight of it all!!! LMAO!!!:lau:gig

At least his crowing isn't as loud as my Australorp roo's were!

It finally rained here in around 1:30 AM. I had the dog out for doing his last duty before bed. He has his own yard in a section of our yard. I didn't even hear it, but it started raining after that, so he was wet when I let him back in. We had to towel dry him off.

I think it is time to officially accept my (not quite 5 week old) handsome rhode island white cross as a "he".

Hubs is putting a small doggy door for the chickens. It has a rubberish flap on it that he cut into strips. The goal is to keep small birds out and put feed in there rather than out where wild birds can get it. I'm ready to buy a shot gun and do some bird deterring damn it.
