Arizona Chickens

Help! In the past 3 days I noticed one of my pullets is very sleepy, I often saw her close her eyes and lay like this. But when she woke up, eats drinks walks normal. She is about 4 months old, I havent get a chance to confirm what her poops look like, she is not slow, or dull, or lethargic.

Is there a chance she's egg bound?

I would probably start by giving her extra vitamins and electrolytes in her water. The heat (and humidity) has been really bad lately, and I'm noticing more lethargic behavior in a few of my birds as a result too.

View attachment 1457397 I have too many drakes is there anybody living close to flagstaff,az willing to take three of my drakes please they are Rouen and beautiful. I noticed them tag teaming a couple of my females and am afraid they might kill them.

I hope that you find homes for the 3 boys. In the meantime, maybe it would be best to separate them from your females. You don't want to end up loosing your girls and having to start all over.

I know I check in them regularly throughout the day. But that’s my biggest worry finding dead ducks. I have a duck sitting on some eggs hoping that these are fertile. Still to soon to candle crossing my fingers I get some ducklings. The last batch was all bad.

I'm sad to repirt I lost my first chicken today, Indigo my dark blue Australorp. She was a beautiful bird. I'm sure it was the heat, she was panting early this morning and it was over 90* all night.

Oh nooo! I'm so sorry I remember my first chicken loss a bit over a year ago, its quite a shock :hugs
It was so hot here's hoping the cool down happens soon:hugs

I know it's really hot. I've been going out there to check on my flock about every couple of hours. So far, so good over here. I wonder if all of these white one's that I have are reflecting some of the sun?
