Yes. HOA gave me a very vague answer, if translated by my lawyer friend, they dont have a rule till a neighbor complains. My neighbors both are fine with it so I am fine too.

Macbot that is my interpretation as well. I live in Chandler and there is no 5 chicken allowed rule. Instead it's more like you are OK as long as your HOA and neighbors are OK. There is a distance factor that unfortunately is very difficult to abide by unless you have a huge lot and are in a minority of housing developments in Chandler.

It's a known risk I take where any day somebody could send me a notice and come knocking. I do my best to conceal the area among bougainvillea and citrus trees.

Chickens are so much tougher than we realize. One of my hens plucked a pearl earring right out of my ear and swallowed it before I had a chance to react. She lived for three years after that without any hint of a problem.

from what I understand, Chandler, Arizona. Chandler is one of two cities in Maricopa County that does not allow chickens for all residents I know there was a petition a couple of years ago to change the laws, but I don't think it was successful

Aw thanks for asking about Momo! She is still having crop issues, and has not laid an egg in over a week. I rarely see her at the food containers. Her poops are mostly grit and liquid but she did do one with solids in it today, so I'm not sure what to make of that situation. Despite her symptoms, for the most part she is acting fine. She had a few days where she seemed to have less energy but she's back to her usual self, bossing the others around and going for treats like watermelon and oil bread. She likes the bowl with ACV water in it, I see her there a lot. I'm still massaging her crop and looking for any changes, like if it starts to sour. I would think that if she had a blockage in her lower digestive area she wouldn't have made it through the week, but this chicken is still kickin'! Something is not right but I'm hoping for the best.

I hate to say it, but it sounds like she may have egg peritonitis.

How hot, is too hot to put my new babies outside, they are rapidly outgrowing the brooder cage. Normally I try to get chicks in October to avoid this.... but :shrug: they are sooo cute

Well I wouldn't put them out these next few days bc of the 110+ coming but I put mine out at 6 weeks and my buffs I put them out in July but I had a a.c. for them, they loved it and would stand in front of it when it got hot but wasn't on yet, trying to figure out how to get it going

In August is when they roamed outside without a.c., just be careful for the wind
And i think babies are pretty bad at using resources like ice bottles and puddles so keep an eye on them oh and start them out maybe by morning trips out (I did that at first too) and inside once it's hot, to ease into acclamation of the heat and the outside world that way you can see how they do
