Mine have been molting for about a month now. Some of them look like little porcupines, and the egg production has been ridiculously low and pitiful.Anyone else's hens start molting yet? I've got about 4, maybe 5 who are. It's really cut back on egg production, but that's ok. They look so pathetic with their bald patches and new feathers sprouting outMy dad and stepmom are coming from Iowa to visit next week, and I can't wait to show off the coop. Too bad my girls will be sporting such funny looking feathers, but oh well! I also was wondering, not that I have roosters, but do they molt too?
No. None of mine seem to be moltingActually I am surprised that she hasn't started laying eggs yet. Is she molting? She was hatched out on Dec. 15th, 2017.

Hi everyone!
Just thought I'd post this here. I have a white bearded silkie rooster hatched in Dec. 2017 (who I may have nicknamed Horton). He is very sweet, and I would love to keep him, but I simply don't have the room right now. I've been having some trouble finding him a home because of a severe crossbeak that he began developing when he was 6 weeks old. He eats and drinks fine, and is a very beautiful bird. Again, he's an absolute sweetheart and could really use a loving home. Message me if you're at all interested; I'm down in the Tucson area. Thanks!

Yes one more today and another egg has a pip.Did any more of them hatch yet?
You might have trouble re-homing him unless it would be to someone who isn't breeding those. He could pass on his cross-beak gene's otherwise.
