Arizona Chickens

Soooooo sad to hear this. :hugs
Shooting the dogs would not accomplish anything. :idunno It is in the dogs nature. (not all, but those). The real villain here is the irresponsible dog owners. They should be held accountable for your loss.
If I'm not mistaken, you are looking to relocate to a different area anyways. Hopefully you will have better neighbors there.
They are our dogs.

@Michelle Guynn sorry this happened. Our new rescue girl will chase the chickens and probably hurt them as she ferrets out dead birds in the desert so she is not allowed in the chicken yard. We are not used to that as we've always had dogs that didn't chase, care one whip about the chickens. Its a learning curve - sucks but a learning curve!
@City farm Man I would have loved to meet up with ya!! The Avacodo does a great sale and I only live a short - maybe 5 miles from them. They are my go to place for many questions and such as that!

@Suzyqschickens & @Geranium I heard that they cook thing's faster than the crockpot does, so that's why I asked. I'm trying to figure out what a good brand of them would be, if there is more than one brand.

I was just outside messing up the dog chain trail by the coop and run of one of the neighbors dogs that got hold of my last 2 yard rooster's this morning, so I will be able to tell if it comes back here again trying to get to my good bird's. Gave the warning that next time the dog could be shot. It's not the first time that dog broke it's chain, and they left their driveway gate open. It might go after my other neighbors goat next time.

I have a good sized Crock-pot, but I'm thinking about getting one of those Instant Pot's. Anyone else have one of those?

YES! I love mine! It makes the simplest, best hard-boiled eggs, which I make weekly. Completely effortless. I make steak, roast beef, bread, stuffed cabbage, stews....just about everything in my Instant Pot. It took a little while for me to get used to using it, but once I did I never looked back. I even bought one for one of our dearest friends and taught him how to use it. He got rid of his crock pot and uses just the Instant Pot.

I didn't know they were your dogs.:( I still do not suggest shooting them.
I have 3 and they all like/get along with my chickens and cats. I had a neighbors' dog that got loose and attacked one of my hens a couple years ago. That is why I thought it was neighbors dogs.:(
My hen lived 2 more years but was blind. Died at 11 years of age. It was a total extra job to maintain and feed separately. I just could not cull her since she recovered but was just blind. Healthy otherwise.
I have read multiple posts about how peeps trained their dogs to stay away from chickens. They used a shock collar for the training. IT WORKED.

My dogs killed 4 babies when I first got my flock. But now I just look at them and they walk away from the girls. They walk around in the coop with the girls. She will give chase to them but the big girls will actually chase her off. I just stay on her and tell her no but my dogs are pretty well mannered. But the shock collar will work just be consistent
