Arizona Chickens

She's laying those green egg's for you now? I still have one more of those sister's that I could be talked into selling, but it doesn't have a crest.

I don't usually go to bed until 3 AM. Back when I was working years ago, I worked 12 hour shifts on the graveyard shift. I had to bring a thermos full of coffee made at home to work with me to make sure it was strong enough, and it tasted much better than the coffee they had in the machines. I can still drink a cup of coffee even today, and then go right to bed and sleep if I want to.
I do the opposite sometimes, wake up at 3 AM, most jobs I had I had to be at work by 5 AM, I'm disabled, generally just tell people I'm retired, easier than trying to explain..lol. I try and cut the caffeine by 4 pm. Makes it easier to sleep.

Just like everybody's body systems can be different, so can be our schedules.

@BlueBaby i believe both are laying but have only seen her in the nesting boxes. As for another chicken? Omg I don’t think the hubby would be very happy with me. I am up to 20 girls now. And laying 7-10 eggs a day:)

I have 11 girls laying now. I collected 6 eggs out there today.

Edit: I still have 3 more girls that aren't old enough to lay yet. By the way, you only have 19 girls, because the 20th one now belong's to your son as you stated... lol The boy must like those green egg's, huh? :lau

3 those 11 girls of mine that are laying are fairly new layer's though, and are still trying to get the rhythm down or whatever you would call it. 2 of those 3 are laying green eggs, and the other one is laying a light golden-tan color that has a shiny sheen to it. Those are still too small to try to hatch yet, but maybe in a couple more months they will be a good enough size.

So true.. for a while after leaving the work force, I would go to bed late, wake up at 3 or 4, took me over a year to remember I wasn't working anymore..lol. Nothing like jumping out of bed, thinking your running late and then going well hell, I'm no longer working. As long as the cats are not using the bed for a race track or my belly for bouncing.. I can generally sleep till 5 or 6 now.

@starri33 I'm in the rural area outside Casa Grande/Eloy - about half way in between. We have an Eloy address/post office. I too can't drink coffee like I used to. Alaska folks drink coffee all day and all night. It was a hard habit to let go of but my body told me NO!!
Lost one of my 6 year old girls - a SexLink - can you believe it - she lived past 6 years!! It was just her time. SexLinks often don't make it past 3 years I have found. So I'm down to 32 chickens now - hahahaha........ I still have molters - they seem to molt one after the other - I can hear them now. "sister, you almost done with the new feather gig? s: ya - time to get started for you now." So while I keep clearing the feathers they just keep coming.
I do need to go and get greens for the chickies but I also have a doctor appointment tomorrow - I'm off to look to see if there are substitutes in my fridge - still too early after that ugly day to go to a store!! Stay well all....

So sex links don’t live very long:eek: my son is gonna be so upset! We have 3 of the black sex links. Big girls and so sweet and great layers. They are almost a year old now. Speaking of going to the store have any of you tried the Walmart buy online and pick up? Omg it is absolutely amazing! I start my cart a week in advance add things as I need them then pick them up. I am saving at least $150/week not buying crap I don’t need! I do not buy my meats or veggies/fruits this way. But definitely a time and money saver!
