Arizona Chickens

Oh wow, very cool!! Do you have any pictures of the King Tut Purple Peas? Ive never heard of these. How do they taste?

They just started sprouting last week so I haven't gotten to taste any of them yet. I'm hopeful they'll do well here since our desert is similar to that of Egypt. I've never had much luck with shelling peas here as they typically require longer periods of cooler temps. This one may be the exception.

Where did you get the seeds? and is it too late to start them????

From this company: https://www.rareseeds.com/

Their seed catalog is like a really cool history lesson. Whether or not it's too late to start them depends upon where you live, and like I said...this is my first attempt at them. I'm still feeling my way through their planting needs.

Now I'm off to look up buckwheat!!

Buckwheat also makes good pancakes. ;)
I eat buckwheat regularly as a side-dish to dinner plates. :drool:drool:drool

Thanks for the link to the seeds. I of course will have to wait until April or later to plant. May start indoors in a pot. I just want some in a container grown on my patio. Makes an interesting conversation item for sure.:thumbsup

FRIGHTENING UPDATE: THE POULTRY GRIM REAPER STRIKES AGAIN, virulent Newcastle Disease SPREADS to UTAH!
Today the USDA confirmed the presence of virulent Newcastle disease in backyard show chickens in Utah County, Utah. This case is believed to be connected to the current outbreak in California, as three of the birds at the premises were recently *moved* to Utah from LA County, California. Since May 2018, 299 cases of Newcastle disease have been confirmed in Southern California, primarily in backyard show birds.
DON'T move birds during an outbreak!
DON'T bring birds into your flock from another yard!
