Arizona Chickens

I know what you mean. Mine are like that, too! I'm so glad that I am doing the pellet's and not the crumbles right now that would probably just blow away.
With the extra roos I have and the pullets just starting to lay I decided to switch to Nutrena All Flock right now that only comes in pellets. It's actually working great because I can fill everyones feeders, AND toss a handful out like scratch at the same time. They seem to be doing pretty well on it. I hadn't been getting it before because it costs more, then formed a new perspective when I realized the difference really isn't as much as it seems. Just mixing it with a little scratch and black oil sunflower seeds right now. The local feed store that was selling the mash i used for making fermented feed has closed down. Wish I could afford to go back to getting mash at the place down in Willcox....

Yes, that's what I'm doing now too, all flock pellet feed, 3 grain scratch, and oyster shell on the side. My metal feed barrel's will hold 3 of those 50 pound bag's of feed or scratch. My chicken's eat good. I slow down on giving them any scratch in the hot summer because I heard that it's not good for them then. I wanted to give them the other half of the head of cabbage today, but I think it's too windy.

About a couple of hour's ago, I thought that I had seen one of the hatching egg's move in the incubator. I stood and watched for a bit, making sure that none of me was touching to cause the egg to move, and sure enough! It did it again! I don't see any cracks in the egg's yet, though.

And that's the very moment in hatching when anything resembling sleep ceases to exist for me. ;)
