Arizona Chickens

Not my experience that they get used to it. Essentially you're doing the same thing any of us do in a different way with a few exceptions.

It's damn hot in summer regardless of your zip code here in the valley.

Chickens are flock animals, I'm sure yours would appreciate a few friends

Well, I noticed that in after the first year, my chicken was able to deal with the heat better, and stay out in the sun longer... maybe t just me... idk.
Yeah, I really hate it when it gets above 100 degrees. It's like a roasting oven, literally.
I have 5 ducks and 3 peafowl, but I guess my chicken needs more chicken pals

Joined up..lol, not sure what these are all about..I've seen the threads. Tomorrow is day 21 for them, but I've had them start early and hatch late.. so far one on day 19 and one on day 20

Mostly they just have a normal one each month where some of the new people who are doing thier first hatch can get help from some of the more experienced hatcher's. For the Easter one they will vote on the baby chick pic's that have hatched for it, and then pick winner's for the best picture's that had been taken. Post your new chick pic's there in it that you just hatched out. Even if your's isn't a winner, you will get the experience of one of these and learn from it.

posted the pictures, I love the color on both of them.. Their new mommie is excited.. I think this is my 7th hatch now and all but one have been for others, most of the folks that I am hatching for can't afford to go out and replace the hens they've lost to coyotes. TSC this year has lowered their prices and their limits. When I bought my first girls 3 years ago, you had to buy 6 and I think I paid almost 4.00 each..lol.

It's perfect timing! Post how many you set and your final hatch numbers in there and the date you set your eggs. If you can, use bold text for your numbers because a person actually reads through the thread and adds things up.

I'm going to check out your pics!

I think some of you might remember that I've been nursing a young roo that I got back from a friend who'd just dumped him in with the rest of the flock and he got tore up, Sir Poops-a-lot, well, he's now got his back feathers back, his wings are looking good and he's got stubby little tail feathers now, I am thinking about going out and getting him out of the TSC coop and adding him to the roosts, I figure be out there in the morning when they all wake up to watch, I've read where when adding new members to the flock to do so at night so that there wouldn't be as much of a issue.. suggestions please? I do not want to risk him being pecked bald again.

How old is your chicken now that need's more chicken pal's? I have a few left over here out of my grow-outs that I could sell.

2 yrs old(rooster). I might consider buying some, but idk right now. I'm, kinda iffy, because my fenced backyard is sorta like at the cap. I might refence it, but... well sure. LOL

If I were to buy, how would you ship live chickens?
Also, I might not be able to buy and chickens for ~3 months, because in a month I'm going out of country for a month. It might not be enough time to get a new hen settled and comfortable. What do you think?
