Arizona Chickens

My poor scalped Muscovy duckling is doing well today! I got her two chick friends to grow up with. A Delaware and a Plymouth Rock. Has anyone here raised those breeds before? The PR seems especially sweet.
I haven't had PR but I did have a few Delawares. I still have one she must be 7 Years old now. I liked their size, their egg laying and their calmness around me. They aren't lap freindly but always at my feet. At one point I was going to cross them with NNs, but it never happend. The one negative with mine was they didn't play nice in a mixed flock, they had to be at the top of the pecking order, and they were constantly letting the others know it.

Thank you :hugs

How is your hen doing? Any improvement?
unfortunately, whatever I did was too little too late.

I'm leaving the coop floor bare but may put in some wood chips to improve the soil and reduce dust. No hay or straw in any yard ever again..
Why no hay or straw???? I have to have hay available for the tortoise to eat.

I'm so sorry, I know it hurts. Hopeful the rest are doing well?

I was using a layer of hay on the floor of my coop, I'm trying to cut down on dust. All it did was act as a trap.

Ok so hay is ok, as long as it's not bedding.....

The sister was one of the first 5 my husband got me as a birthday gift in 2013....
There is one sister left....
I had 10 chickens at the end of last summer, after the roo's went away, 7 felt like a more comfortable number for my yard. We lost Blondie a month ago, and now the sister.... Only one is left,
When we buried her, The last sister came and hung out with us, and then stayed in the "graveyard" most of the afternoon. The others stayed in the yard. I know this is more then you asked, but each of my hens has a story, and this is the end of hers.
I did the best I knew how for her, she lived a wonderful 6 years for a chicken, and was loved!
Thank you for listening.

The Delaware is definitely the top of my little trio. She's very vocal and adventurous. She isn't mean to the other chick or the duckling but she doesn't put up with anything, either. The duckling likes to follow the chicks and bury her head in their feathers. The Plymouth Rock chick snuggles with the duckling and lets the duckling snuggle with her. The Delaware just tolerates the duckling.

If she behaves in the flock I think you will be very happy with her.

I just posted my first photo. I will get the hang of this yet. this is a photo of my first hatchlings they are just under three months old. One of the roos is trying to crow already. I am trying to figure out which one.
