Arizona Chickens

Mine has slowed down. Its the heat. My older girls just quit (well almost) and some will not egg as often. Keep the oyster shell out there for them as the heat really zaps their calcium. And protein too. The heat just does that to them. I figure when my NN girls are standing with their wings out it is really hot out. We had that during the big heat when we had 114 at our place.

How is everyone and their flock doing today?
Doing ok here, @Fishybiz asked about have their hens started slowing down, I've got 16 layers and only getting 7 to 10 eggs per day, but then 10 of them are 3.5 years, 2, I am not sure how old they are (1 of those are broody) and 4 have only started laying in the past 2 months. How are you?

Doing well but not loving the heat :hmm we have the misters going all day and tons of shade but some are still panting. I need to get in there and rake poop once it cools down a bit this evening.

The Naked neck one's are just standing in the shade, but the feathered necked one's are standing in not only the pan of water that I gave them for standing in, but they are also standing in the 2 big water pan's that I put out there for them to drink out of. Surprisingly the silkies seem to be doing ok.

Hi everyone!
My name is Heather, I've been reading this site since I got chickens about 3 years ago.
The reason I decided to post today is my family is a bunch of softies and they have a habit of bringing me animals but I currently have two that I need to find new hopefully forever homes. I was hoping you guys would know someone.

This is Betty, my mom just brought her to me one day, she had wandered in to a nice family's yard, my understanding is that they wanted her to go to someone who knew something about chickens, she's healthy and probably only about 1-2 years old (my opinion based on the pictures of her, the first picture is from February and the second was today) she has laid an egg almost every day since I got her back in February, she is a sweetie but I can't have anymore chickens at my house.

And this is Rorchach, I don't know how old Rory is but he is very sweet and loves lots of cuddles, a friend of mine was desperate because they weren't going to be around for the next few months so she brought him to me, but it turns out that I'm allergic.
I live in Mesa, If any of you know anyone who can take in either of these cuties I would be so grateful and relieved.

It was cooler today but still felt as hot as last Monday or whatever day it was. Mud puddle was going by 3pm, water pans didn't look too muddy - hahahaha! The girls stand in them all the time. I have seven pans plus two other metal type waterers. From the look of things, they save one of the pans for drinking (plus the metal ones) and the others are for standing in - they aren't dummies!! I've had the electrolytes and probiotics in their water. BUT forecast says nothing really, really hot for awhile.
@HeiHeiWhiskey Heather I do hope you find homes for those pretty, pretty babies.
