Arizona Chickens

Thank you for the welcome! I typically use Farriers Secret, because that is what I use on my horses. I have also used Corona hoof dressing and Hooflex. Play around with how much you use until you figure out what works best for you.
There was a hoof cream years ago that had mango in it, I used it as lotion lol Sadly they discontinued production of it.
I'll look for those thanks. We have a feed store just down the road.

Okay now I have a question. Anyone had any problems with rattlers going for their chickens? Last year I had to kill a Mojave green 6' from my house & a Diamondback in my garden. I leave them alone in the wilderness but if they come onto my property, sorry gotta go. I had a dog struck in the face by one in So Cal, miraculously she survived. However, I take no chances with the horses and dogs. Not to mention the kids who come to take lessons.

I have not, but being in the valley in a suburban area it's not common to see them. Maybe @BlueBaby or @starri33 have some input on that though.

Sure rub it in why don't ya? 🤪 My husband who grew up in Pa convinced me snow was fun. HA! Snow is cold and a royal pain in the arse when it comes to doing well ANYTHING outside. Move to snow country he said, it will be fun he said. 🥶

I grew up in the upper midwest in Minnesota. believe me, I do not miss the snow, the ice, nor the blizzard's. I love not having to put snowtires or chain's on my tire's. I'll take the heat anytime over those below zero winter's!

I have seen rattler's around here, but I've had no problem with them going after my chicken's yet. I don't free-range over here. Last year a rat snake ate 2 of my chick's before I caught him and it became vulture food. The year before last summer, the ant's were bad and killed several of my chick's by eating them alive. I got rid of those also, and now I am constantly on the lookout to find any anthill's on this 3 1/2 acre yard.

I have a hatch that is due on the 16th from my flock in my incubator. I have decided that for now I will not be hatching any more of them, so I will have Naked Neck hatching egg's available if someone need's them. I have naked neck's that will lay various shades of brown, or blue/green egg's. I only sell mine for $10.00 a dozen. Pick up only whenever they lift the stay at home thing.

Say Hello to Lucky..lol, my broodies have been playing musical nest boxes, I'd given up on getting any hatch. I picked his egg up planning on just tossing it over the fence, something told me not too, I came around the corner of the house and heard a bunch of chirping, figured that it was that damned sparrow that keeps making me think I have hatch.. brought him up on the porch to toss into the trash can, noticed a lot of black in the hole.. (I thought one of my hens had just poked a hole in it from stomping on it) decided what the heck, open it and see how far along it got, it chirped at me, so now I have one baby, if I can't find another 1 or 2 newborns, I am going to have to go to TSC and buy him buddies

my wee peeps have arrived!
the rocks are the most inquisitive, the wyandottes are shy and like to sprint around the Brooder, the lorps like to body slam into a group a chicks and sprint back to the other side and the Sussex are very content to be held. and the brahma tends to peck at spots on the wall.
