Arizona Chickens

I have enough pullet's that I'm growing out now that will be laying egg's by around fall and won't be molting this year. I didn't want to have to freeze a bunch of egg's again this summer to hold me through the molting time.
How are you freezing your eggs? do you scramble or just freeze in ice trays?

Scramble with a little bit of salt. Then I put them in ziplock baggies getting as much air as possible out of them. Then layed flat, you can stack them on top of each other.

If you other's here are interested in learning more about freezing extra egg's for later while they are still laying well, you can go here:

I've got enough customers now, that I'm not sure I'm going to need to freeze any, but if I do, this information is great to have, Thank You, I shared it with my homesteading group on FB. GV Homesteading, questions, tips and tricks. It's not very big and I do most of the talking, but it's a good group..

I don't really know where Castle Canyon Mesa is, but if you are outside of Prescott Valley then it would be the county laws you have to worry about?? Here is the link for county laws. http://www.co.yavapai.az.us/uploadedFiles/Ordinances/zoningordinance.pdf Animal laws are on page 81. It says 8 chickens per acre or portion there of.

But I am a bit confused because there is a meeting in Cottonwood end of the month to change the County laws and "allow chickens"?? Maybe they are hoping to change the amount you can own per acre...dunno...but will see if I can find the link for the county meeting.

k here it is. http://verdenews.com/Main.asp?SectionID=36&SubSectionID=73&ArticleID=46705 They are encouraging everyone to be present Don't be chicken to sound off in poultry debate

Did you guys happen to know if you’re allowed chickens(hens ) in Prescott Valley?

If you hear the phone ring, you might want to run to get it.. lol. So far I've only had a couple of people who've wanted hatching eggs, I've warned them that they are mixed flock.. Should I bet whether or not you'll take the break? lol.
I wouldn't take that bet lol.

Good Morning, I've been reading up on Silkies since I've never had any. I knew their care would be kinda different than my others. I read where they can't fly or jump very well, who ever wrote that hasn't met mine yet..lol, I went into the brooder room to see what the racket was about, here stood one of the chicks loose in the floor, I've put the top on the tote. They made the mess since last night.

One reason we did not move to Prescott Valley was because we knew we wanted to keep chickens. Prescott has no rule limiting chickens except that no roosters are allowed. Here is Prescott Valley's rule:
6-02-030 Domestic Animals Other Than Dogs and Cats.
A. Livestock and Poultry: Except in Agricultural Districts, as defined in Section 13-19b-
010, livestock and poultry shall only be allowed on lots which are one (1) acre or
larger in size and shall be limited to two (2) such animals per acre except as follows:
1. No animals shall be allowed in the Town of Prescott Valley in contravention of
existing restrictive covenants.
