Arizona Chickens

I’m still trying to talk the wife into letting me get a few NN
I think you may be able to use this line,,,
"HONEY,,, I RESCUED THESE CUTIES,, DIDN'T WANT THEM TO GET COLD"

I could't find a chicken so use your imagination with the doggie. If you have photoshop, you may be able to change to a chicken with a naked neck.

Or say you found them on the side of the road.. and make sure they look like this when you show them to her

His wife would never fall for that. These dual-purpose NN's that I have are way to big for that. They have some meat on the bones.

Well the chicks are indoors, and I am not really blasting any ac.. so I turned off their heat lamp last night. Everyone was fine and didn't get out of their snuggle sleep pile until i got up. I do have it on for just bright light now during the day.

Question for you guys, so they slept in their pile on the floor, but should I be opening the top area for them? I did have them go up there while I cleaned the bottom area, but am I SUPPOSED to make them go up there? And do I need to close the door, or can I leave it open (if they do sleep up there)? I wasn't sure if being indoors makes a difference.

Good morning AZ. If anyone buys new appliances I recommend Lowes over Home Depot. Prices are better and delivery is too.

The weather is fantastic and the chickens are all over the place. I've been throwing their scratch into the xeriscape garden so they spread the hay for me. Another girl thinks she's broody but I give it less than a week, when temps are back to 105 she'll give up. Hubs built a new nest box over the weekend so I'm having to move chicks onto the roost from that at night . I can't wait for these red girls to go; there's nothing wrong with them but I just have too many chickens back there. Then we've got about 8 weeks until we process the cockerels and extra pullets. However, I'm thrilled that Angus has mated with Cuckoo. She's a silver Dorking mix and with their coloring I think they might make pretty babies at some point. I hope he manages to sweet talk Blue, Red and Lucy. They are in charge and insist he practices on the others first :gig

Enjoy the great day everyone!

What are you going to do with Lacy, since she is a full-blood sister to Angus?

This go around, the egg's that I am incubating came from 3 females. A Barnevelder, a EE, and the FNN.

He isn't after her and I'm keeping her regardless. If they do the deed it doesn't mean I have to hatch her eggs.
