Arizona Chickens

I'm in Kingman AZ. Usually 95-100 in Summer. A few years ago it got 111 degrees in July. The chickens had plenty of water, I have 4 water drinkers in different areas, along with dish pans all over the yard. We have an acre, grass and dirt. They run the property (except for the garden) all day to forage. They love being under the trees when its hot.

Hi! I am in Prescott, it can get hot here, just not all day every day (and night) from March to October! Even if it is hot in the daytime, it cools down at night, to maybe the 60's even in summer. We were ~ 95 today, but already down to 90 now. Not too hot to BBQ by 5:00pm!
Welcome!

Oh we already bbqd and are stuffed!! Daisy Mae is watching 101 Dalmatians!

Hello! :frow I'm glad that you found your way to our states thread! I hope that you had a good Independence Day today!

Sorry, I'm new to this website and are still trying to find my way around. My father in law passed away recently and left behind about 20 to 30 free roaming chickens. I'm trying to find a rescue who is able to take them in. They reside in the neighborhood but have been mostly staying on my father in law's property due to food and water supply. I have found homes for a few of them but I'm running out of time because the house has been sold. I contacted Aimee's farm and Healing Hearts rescue but have not heard anything back. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Are you on Facebook?

Thank you for looking. I thought he was a boy, but then this week i thought differently! He is black, just has his grey baby down feathers coming out. Darn! I think you're right. Its been the biggest chick all along.

I sent the dna test samples 3 weeks ago, but they finally confirmed receipt Monday and said it could be up to another week before i find out. The whole point of paying was to rehome BEFORE we got attached! Too late now.

Cleaned the coop and run today. Never sweated so much in my life. Sprayed the coop with oxine and put DE on top of the bedding. Got a large blue/green egg today so far.
There was an old kiddy pool left here from former owner and thought I would put some water in it for the girls. Well I guess they left it because it leaks.
just so humid here.

No :( and of course the craziness that is all things silkie has me thinking both silkies are girls now! Friday was the legal holiday, so, according to their 4-7 days, i *should* find out mon-Thurs this week.

The down is all gone and the new feather pins are broken open and poofy, and still no comb at all, now at 10 weeks. Crazy making! Ill try to get new pics shortly, they've both mellowed out and are easier to handle now.

Super humid down in the phx area too. Only 15 mins of easy outside work and all sweaty! Hopefully rain comes soon.

The humidity (20% here) got me too. Not a cloud in the sky and barely 90 degrees, but I got very hot painting the railing on the back porch/ramp. Birds got ice cubes and an ice bottle early. Going to be 111 here next saturday!
