I still don't know why that bird had feathers on it's legs but now I have put the screen name to a face. Thanks!!! I wish I had fertile eggs to give ya. Are her eggs white or brown? If they are brown then she can't be a california white. Have you decided what she is?

Edit to say she came from an assortment package from Ideal.

Well if it came from the assortment and it lays white eggs .. then im gonna have to guess that its the leghorn cross from ideal (ideal 236) ive been wanting one of those because they are apparently nice unlike normal leghorns, arnt flighty, and lay even more and larger eggs than the normal leghorns

Vanessa... she has cream colored eggs and she sure is clucky. I've actually seen the 14 week old leghorn roo mount her a number of times, but we've eaten all of her eggs and none of them looked fertile anyway... now shes quit laying.

Ah, the face with the name... I came with three of my boys, remember!?!?

Oh and I broke my broody cochin by taking the box she was in away. I don't know if that is an option for you or not.

Edit yes I totally remember now. Sometimes I have a hard time remembering who took what and then matching it all up to a screen name but if I remember correctly you took several birds that day. I distinctly remember you pointing out the feathers on her leg while we were standing at the back of your truck.

I had a neighbor complain that my three mules were getting too close to their house. They were fenced in on my own property, but we have some strange livestock rules in our county. I did some research on the county ordinances and found I was allowed to have 81 horses instead. suddenly, three mules seemed to be OK with them. Haven't heard a word about the chickens.

I would not have said a word to them. I would have figured out a way to get 81 horses. EVEN IF I HAD TO BORROW OTHER PEOPLE'S HORSES!!! Then I would have sat back and had a big ol' laugh.

Oh, we got the last laugh on this one. He applied for a new government job (Homeland Security) that required a pretty thorough background check. I gave the FBI lots of kind words on what kind of neighbor he was.

Wait a second...if you have enough land that you are allowed 81 horses then the neighbors can stick it in their ear. With that much room your neighbor should be far enough away they shouldn't care. I laughed at first and now if I were you I would just be seriously peeved that they would even be close enough to you to care what you are doing. I think if someone owns their own property and they want to stand on their heads in their backyard and spit jellybeans out their butt that is their right to do so. Too bad more people don't see it that way.
