I cannot get over the weather! Waking up to a cold house and sunset being around 6 or 7 is crazy! I’ve gotten so used to the extreme heat we’ve been having so the change is nice

I feed mine the 16% with oyster shell included from TSC. That sure is a large decrease though, how long ago did you switch them to all flock?

it's been about 1.5 months now, last time I thought I was having a major decrease, I found where the smarties had made a hidden nest, I've since blocked all places (at least I believe I have) where they could be hiding the eggs. I picked up a couple of bags of Hearty Hen yesterday 18% protein and a bag of layer feed. I'm going to put 2 parts to 1 of Hearty Hen to Layer. I collected 3 so far from todays batch.

He's doing fine, I've lost his original girlfriends, all but the wingettes. But they and the others I bought to round out his harem are doing well. Thinking come spring I might get a few more to add in. Keep some fresh blood in the group. Of course that is going to depend on if I keep my flock at the count that it is. Been feeling like hell so thinking about down sizing. Don't really want to get out of the chicken business totally, but might. We'll see how I'm doing, having a flock makes it harder to get away for a while. my normal pet sitter is getting older, so that is a concern. Dog's and Cat's can either travel with us or go to boarding, would be nice to get out of dodge for a while.

when I change my girls food I usually mix it in with the old food because they can be picky sometimes, maybe mix their old food with the all flock? Who knows, you might find a hidden nest somewhere haha. Good luck with them! Hopefully everything gets back to normal soon.

They are eating it that is for sure, lol, where normally they'd be slinging their food all over the place this they are not and I am going through a bunch of it.. I have hanging feeders plus they get some tossed in the run.

Could it be that the wild/songbirds have just now found your birds' food?

Ok here are some pics of my new chicks on another playdate.. still making sure no bloodbaths happen. @City farm my splash refused to look at the camera, but ill try again w better lighting tomorrow. The new chicks are now 8 weeks old.

How big do chicken eggs get? I got a huge one in a dozen from Walmart, and could hardly close the carton it was so big. No idea how it made it here intact. I decided to weigh it, and it turned out to have two yolks. The scale was zeroed before weighing the egg. I tried a second scale, and that one said 89, which was one gram more, but the egg kept rolling off and I couldn't get a picture.

Sometimes the size of the egg can depend on what breed the hen is. Many time's the young pullet layer just starting out will lay some double yolked egg. It takes time for them to work thing's out in their system. Some people have even found 3 or more yolk's in an egg.
