Arizona Chickens

I would have to agree on the mud hole. We haven’t yet had the opportunity to try the eggs yet but when we do I’m just not going to tell anyone and use them and see what they say. I hope we like them because I don’t have the ability to keep chickens and ducks and don’t want the hassle of two coops to clean.
If you find the eggs taste too "ducky" you can lessen that by adding sun dried tomatoes (they might still come with olive oil and italian seasoning at costco) or cheese, or disgarding one of the yolks in a big pan of scrambled eggs. I used to eat them with italian seasoning and potatoes. yum!

I'm thinking of selling my group of the 8 Silver Grey Dorking's. They are my smallest breed that I have over here. They are too friendly and always surrounding my feet when I go out there, and I don't want to be falling on them. I like my chicken's, but I don't exactly have them for pet's. I do think that they are too stupid to make good free-ranger's. They would most likely walk right into the jaw's of a predator.

Lots of shade; lots of water. Install an automatic waterer. Miss water one day, and you are out of the chicken business. Put a lawn sprinkler in the chicken yard on a timer so that it goes off several times a day.

The rains we have had in the last couple of days produced a bounty of grass and weeds. Chickens love dandy lions, mustard weed and winter grass. Let them go at it.

Ventilation. Lots of ventilation. Water. Not nipples. Your orphs may need a fan.

Somebody might like them for cute pets that do bug patrol.

Thanks for the tip! It’s something we may need to adjust to but I’m sure hubs and I will be fine. The rest of ‘em can do whatever

You may be able to sell the duck eggs. The Asian community really enjoy them. The last time I was in Lee Lee Market in Tucson, fresh duck eggs were selling for $1.00 each. Looks like you have runners. they are good layers their eggs are the size of large chicken eggs with a green tint to the shells. There are a lot of you tube videos with runners that are fun to watch.
