Arizona Chickens

Maybe Dora and Mari want to be part of a flock again? Maybe you could catch a fly and see if they will eat it too?
They will go into the big coop first, followed by the Leghorns, as soon as the coop is finished and I have a few days off work in a row to keep an eye on them.

We're supposed to get 1 1/2-2 inches of rain between 6 pm and 6 am, and they're giving out sandbags. I'm at the very top of a hill. My "ponds" haven't had any water in them for years. Gotta go feed critters before the rain starts.

We had a nice rain, now the sun is back out. Just lovely weather for the ducks, the chickens have learned to run into their house when the rain starts!

I figured that I'd let Buster out now to do his stuff, so that I won't end up with a wet dog in the house later.

We just had heavy rain and some decent size hail stones. It's been raining every other day here, had a tornado warning a week ago. It's been nice aside from the darn mosquitoes coming out.
I keep missing out on the rain. Supposed to get 1/2 inch or so on each of the next three days, but we'll see!

My husband brought home 12 more chicks, I think they're maybe a week old tiny fluff balls with little wing feathers. I put them in a plastic bin with a heat lamp he used for snakes many years ago. I put a 60 watt light bulb in it over the box, the thermometer reads 90° and its been an hr with no change, is that ok for the temperature? They're eating, drinking, pooping, and running all over in there. Is there anything specific I should do or know other than pasty butt

Just out of curiosity, I found this recipe posted here in BYC, and it look's good! What would you prefer to serve that sauce over, mashed potato's or rice?

That one is easy. Since the recipe has 6 servings,,,,,,, so DW and I would have food for 3 dinners. I would put the sauce over the following.
First day,,, Smashed potatoes made my way with plenty of butter, and sour cream in it.:drool:drool:drool dusted with fresh chives, or fresh dill.
Second day I would make a side of rice:drool:drool:drool with Sazon Goya,,, Yes I went into cupboard and pulled it out for pix.

Third day I would make a side of quinoa,:drool:drool:drool cooked with the seasoning below.
