Arizona Chickens

I hope they share plenty of cookies with you.

She always gives me some chocolate chip cookies and ginger snap's when she makes those. She had some older Naked Neck hen's from me that are molting now, that's why she got that batch of younger pullet's a couple of month's ago.

It does seem like a lot of work, I'm assuming the person had the scrap wood and the expensive carving tools though. I think ping pong balls might work too, anything roundish. That is, if one wanted to be sure the nest box was suitable to the birds.
I made it with a scrap of 2×4, a pocket knife and sand paper

I still remember seeing it,, and never viewed it since. BTW,,, we are 20+ years past when it was supposed to happen.
I am not against anyone choosing to be Vegan. Vegetarian ,,, a slightly less restricted,, I have no problem eating any of their entree's :drool:drool:drool
Their desire is to eat HEALTHY. With this over-processed vegetable 3D ingredients,,, (including food color, and artificial flavor to make beans taste like meat) ,,,,, I miss the point of HEALTHY FOOD :idunno

By doing continued weed wacking, and control,,, the yard will eventually come under control.
I live in somewhat different area,, and deal with weeds in my lawn on a regular basis. I choose not to resort to chemical pesticides,,,,,, for 2 reasons. CHICKENS,:love AND CHILDREN.:love
I do mow the lawn regularly,, which cuts the heads off weeds. I also fertilize, the grass so it is healthy. ( fertilizer,, not Weed&Feed) Remove the few stubborn weeds physically.

I found a baby tarantula walking across my porch.View attachment 2814130
So beautiful. We have some up here on our lot (they're shy and have hidden somewhere since we finished the house). There's one I see fairly often...I call her Demi-Luna because we first "met" at the half-moon. :) First time I ever played with them was at Camp Fire Girls summer camp, a very very long time ago.

This is one reason for my ongoing Pantry Project - stock up on an extra 10 (or 20 or 30...) easy meals to stock your pantry per week as your budget allows. Food like that is better than money in the bank (unless your home is wiped out). As you build up your reserves tackle different types of items like cooking oils, drink mixes, dry goods, instant powdered milk, first aid and OTC meds, vitamins, seeds (and learn how to grow them before it's critical)...

We also have to be aware of rising chicken feed costs and explore ways to extend, supplement or even grow some of it. I've started to buy some whole seeds (that could possibly grow) and feed that as treats to the chickens. Some of those seeds are not digested and could come out the other end and grow.
