I've been chicken obsessed for almost 8 years and still don't have any. And, with the new neighbors (who will be building right behind us) it's looking like I won't get to have roosters. What started as a 360 degree panorama of pine trees and private forest, has become installed septics, earthworks, and staked plans for future houses on three sides.
I knew it was going to happen once those other three lots sold, but knowing a thing and seeing the reality is altogether different.
Oh well. Someday I'll have chickens, even if only girl ones.
That's me, too. I've taken care of other peoples' chickens for years but I've never had any of my own. No roosters are allowed here but I'm grateful hens are allowed and we just happen to have a property setup where we meet all the rules about coops and chickens. I hope we'll start building in a few months. Depends on lumber prices and how our (many) other household projects go.
Hang in there! We'll get birds of our own eventually. Chicken dreams...
