Arizona Chickens

We may have solved the third white egg mystery. Today we got an interestingly mottled greenish egg which we think came from our Easter egger, Speedy (she loves to run everywhere, has ever since she was a one-day-old chick). Maybe her body is still figuring out how to coat the eggs so her first egg was just white, then her second egg was part white and part green. I wonder if her next one will be all green.

Looks like we'll be back in double digit temps beginning next week. Hooray!
The weather forecast next week looks absolutely amazing!!!! Can’t wait for open window weather

If anyone is looking for some inexpensive nest boxes, these are $11 online at Walmart.

18.75" x 16.125" x 12.625." We bought two to add to our existing boxes. Easy to clean and very strong, you can stack them if you want but we're just leaving them open-topped on the ground. We might add a little dowel with a curtain across the front for some privacy, we'll see how the hens like them first.

Hi there! We will be in Tucson in a few week and have seeds for sharing. Do you all remember this seed box that went around Arizona, I think 3x.
It originally started because of this group. All the details are on our website for the 2 events.

This is the first year I’ve lived at this house so I’ve just been putting a lot of work into reviving the soil, the chickens got some watermelon out of the garden and they’ve been snacking on the cowpea leaves all summer, I also give them little treats of basil and then any scraps that are edible, I also built a smaller garden next tot heir coop that has a couple pumpkins in it, I plan on making it a chicken forage area as the pumpkins die off this winter
There is a Gardening Exchange Stand in Benson. Check out the map Freeplantngardenstands.org
