Brenda on craigslist there is a feed store in gilbert offering pullett chicks it is called marley feeds 26601 s. valvista open till 4 today 480-895-8543 they say fancy chicks whatever their interpretation to fancy is? and yes do ask about their rooster policy some will trade them out also.

Thanks for all the help guys. We went to Supersition Feed in AJ and bought one Barred Rock, one RIR and one Ameracuna. My daughter does not use her play house anymore, it is fully insulated, so we are using that for the chicks till they can go outside...I think that is about 2 months old right?

So now...I just have to keep them away from the neighbors prying eyes....LOL I sure hope we got all hens!

Mahalo4, thank you for the info on Marley's. I think I will call them and see what they have for Fancy! I would love one more chick but I am holding out for a Frizzle of Silkie but want hens!

If you want a silkie or a frizzle, you should hold out for a sizzle! They are a cross between the two and AWESOME! I ordered eggs from jenlyn24(i think) and hatched out 2. One got the frizzle gene, one didn't but they are OH SO CUTE AND SOFT!

Here are mine at 8-10 weeks. They are still young.

By the way, if no one has warned you...I am full of all sorts of trouble-making ideas. Muahahahaha!

Brenda... I have 2 silkie hens and a roo, so I will have some babies soon!

They only lay about 1 egg a day, so if you are looking for higher yield, I would suggest going with something else. But boy are they fun and cute. I call them Bunny/Chickens because they are so soft!

Larissa.... So much for not having enough room!!! LOL!!! You are too much! Let me guess you will have some pozzles soon? Don't worry, I won't tell!

That is a beautiful Roo! He does have a different face. I think it's his eyes! I, too love the blues! Anytime you need someone to hatch any of your eggs, just let me know! HeHe....

Good morning Arizona. Hope everyone is up and kicking today. Looks like another beauty of a day starting to happen.

I am still searching for Blue Bantam Cochin pullets. I hope Mahalo4, Gets some babies soon.

Hippiechick, The blue eggs are my favorite also. I am starting to like the pink tinted color. I have 2 EE girls one lay Blue and the other the pink. When you open a carton of eggs, the Blues really stand out.

I just put up a sigh for eggs for sale on my front gate. My first customer rode up on his horse with his baby colt beside him. I sold him an 18 pack of eggs and off he rode.

Good Morning Pati and all other Arizonans. . . .well, here in Phoenix, it looks like autumn weather is about to arrive. Warm today, cooler tomorrow, and then no more temps above 80 predicted for awhile! Yipee! Gotta work on the yard this fall, have plans for new coop and trying to decide if I will continue to let the chooks "free range' the yard (makes it impossible to grow flowers OR veggies), or to find a way to confine them while still allowing them "room to roam". . . . .
So, as a newbie, I have a question. . . I know that egg production slows in the summer. . . does it also slow in the winter here? Does anyone use lights? Thanks. . .

Hi, I don't know about anyone else, but my girls each gave me an egg every day in the heat all summer. They have slowed down a little. Both of my EE's gives me one every other day now. the three RIR girls give me one a day. I can't tell.

I did extend my pen and keep saying that I won't let them out. They just are so excited when I get to the gate that I don't have the heart not to let them out. I sure would like to plant some flowers and veggies in the pots around my patio. The kids ever dug up some of my bulbs and ate them. I didn't know they would eat bulbs. What to do, What to do


I want Babies, I want Babies. I am going crazy! I have Chicken Fever, Full blown!

Good Mornin everyone! Pati that is the coolest selling eggs to the cowboys!!! I have too many "friends & family"that want free eggs to sell any I sold a dozen to someone that wanted to hatch them but that is it.

I am getting ready to move my coops closer and shrink down the free range area so we can use our fire pit and patio w/out stepping in chicken POOP!!
