Its a joke, really. A little while ago we had a kerfuffle when the City Council was revising the livestock regulations. The original proposal was going to loosen restrictions on large animals, while not allowing chickens on lots under 35,000 square feet. While the proposal was up for initial comments, word got out and a bunch of people in Mesa called and emailed and they decided really quickly to keep the chicken rules just the way they were. In fact, no one is quite sure who suggested changing the chicken rules to start with

. Because of all the comments they got, the Mayor remarked at the City Council meeting where the final proposal was presented that "The chicken lobby is strong and active out there."
This remark really tickled me when I read it in the paper, partially out of relief that what could have turned into a long fight with the City Council turned out to be nothing, because they craved in so quickly to public pressure. And since I was one of the people who wrote in, I decided to make a signature line about being a member of the Mesa Chicken Lobby.

Mesa Chicken Lobby - I was late in the game, but sent an email in and got my mother to do the same. Our councilman knows my mother personally. He called her immediately! My replies came a few days later, but I got several, including a request to let others know this was no longer an issue. I think they were tired of getting comments on the subject. It was good they let me know, I was ready to start knocking on doors of chicken owners in my neighborhood!

Laree---My goodness! What an odd looking bird. Tell us more.

Update:

Im selling them for $10.00 each. They should start laying anytime (slackers).

What makes the ones you "know" less edible than the ones you haven't met?

OK, so I'm up in the middle of the night because I can's sleep cuz I think I have pneumonia. It hurts so badly when I cough. I'm thinking I'm canceling patients today. We'll see how I feel in a couple of hours. I can feel however the cipro doing it's thing, but the Nyquil was WORTHLESS tonight.

Still trying to figure out which chicks I'm gonna let go of. 38 is a LOT Of chicks. I already have two w/bw pullets promised, if that falls through I'll let y'all know. They really are pretty but I can see this time I got a bunch of roos.

Anyone in the market for purebred Wheaten Ameraucana roos...some possibly SQ? (I'm keeping the Blue Wheatens)
