Hi Mahonri, if you can not spare the 2 pullets at this time I can wait until you have a better hatch ratio. . . not a problem, just let me know what works for you. . .

I've got the Black and the Blue in a cage waiting for you for this afternoon... lets see if I have pics of them.

The beautiful black,

and the gorgeous blue. Both pure bred Ameraucanas

Now I just need to sell the other blue and the splash.

Any takers?

Great news!! I just went out to check on the birds and make sure no one was frozen (did anyone else have a layer of ice this morning???) and when I knelt down next to the waterer, my non laying 7 month old CQ did a little squatting tap dance!! The last time I saw that dance on another hen, I had an egg the very next day!! I'm so excited and since DH is en route to Haiti, I couldn't tell him - besides, I think people here get more excited over eggs than he does anyway

Mahroni- How much for the pullets? And they ARE pullets right?

Congrats to you & your son. How exciting! Budapest is one of the 20 places on my "list" to see. I could (and probably would) get lost in their markets for days!

Stupid me, I almost lost my Patchlings.

I thought they would be ok in the brooder with the bigger chicks, and was watching them closely. After a few hours (we were all playing outside), they seemed ok, so we left to visit my dad. But, we got back a little late- just as the sun was going down. The big chicks must have been picking on them, because one had shoved itself beween the bedding box and the cage. Another had followed and a third after that. So all three were stuck, with their wings away from their bodies, freezing, and no way to get out.

When I pulled them out, I had to lift the box of shavings--and I was SO sure I had crushed one as it "rolled".

"Olivia" was unconcious, all stretched out, and barely breathing. I stuck her in my tank top while I gathered the other 3 and rushed them inside: then I wrapped her in a towel and handed her to the MIL while I took care of the other 3. The MIL thought she had died, but the DH heard us crying and set Olivia on a heating pad. I made some lukewarm sugar water & electrolytes and got a drop or two in her. I sat with her in my lap, and after 30 minutes she relaxed a little, pooed, and gave a displeased chirrup. After 2 hours she was sitting up with her eyes open, and taking more water.

This morning all four are active, eating, and drinking---but do look a little tired. The seem to be taking extra naps, and are a little noisier than normal. I have learned my lesson: the baby chickies will be inside until the older set can clear out of the brooder.

Yes these are purebred BBS Ameraucanas.

I'd sell the Splash and the other Blue for $25 each.

DS#4 wasn't happy about me selling Midnight, but we have to make room for the little ones.

Please tell your dear spouse that Midnight (now renamed Blackbird) is settling nicely into her new digs. She has checked out the nest box, knows already where the gate to the larger yard is, and seems curious about my other girls. Both of them were very very good about having their wings clipped, and seemed unperturbed to be held and petted. I'm sure they will settle in fine, and hopefully can soon join the larger flock. Thanks again, Carol

How old are they? Do you have any pictures of the splash? One of our EEs is a splash and is beautiful. If Laree doesn't take them, I'm interested. We love all our EEs, but they all lay green eggs and I'd love to have some blue egg layers too. Are you still selling any other type of pullets too?

Our splash EE is at the left, in the back - my daughter named her Purdy - because she is pretty and is spotted like a dalmation (101).

actually DS stands for DearSon #4...also know around these parts as son of Mahonri.

My Splash looks alot like yours AZDes.chicks. and she lays a nice blue egg. All were hatched out by me on April 25th, 2009, so they aren't even a year old yet.

My other blue is a bit darker than the one I sold to cap1717, and she lays a nice blue egg also.... and all of the eggs are fertile with my Blue Wheaten Roo!... if you were to incubate.

Mahonri - I sent you a PM - I'd love to take them if Laree doesn't.

Laree - you asked about them first - I will still be happy with my flock of EEs if you decide you want to buy them. I'd probably have to come up with a couple more EEs to sell if I buy the ameraucanas (never an easy task).
