Arizona Chickens

great...how are all of the new years babies doing??? so have you figured out now many roos you ended up with

Today is another really nice day up in Northern AZ....hopefully I will be able to get a few more things done with the chickens, we have more rain predicted..and it is starting to look like that it might rain again. One pen from the last snow/rain is still very wet. I just can't seem to get it dried out. Need to figure something out today. Even the run is really wet. I guess this is what happens when you get ALOT of water in a short time. Also you have your coops at the lowest part of the hill.

I have EIGHT wheaten roos! Anyone need a Wheaten roo?

2 Blue Wheaten roos. One is a REAL looker and a keeper.

It looks like I have 1 splash roo, but he is small compared to the others. He came out of a tiny pullet egg of Jeans... we are feeding him more protein in hopes that he catches up with the others because he is real pretty too.

I have 3 EEs I hope all three are pullets and a BYCer will be buying two of them next Friday along with some of my layer hens and a little wheaten roo.

Out of the 10 BCMs 6 are roos!

I also have a Partridge Cochin X Salmon Fav that is a roo. He came out of a tiny egg but he is HUGE, like his daddy. I named him Velosiraptor, he really does look like a dinosaur!

I have a BWA X Leghorn that is a roo also... maybe two of those.

What? That's at least 23 roos out of 38. Not good odds!

Those that don't sell will go to freezer camp!

My neighbors' roos do that. Patch & Sweetcheeks rarely participate--but one neighbor has a new crower (like my Shanks) and it is patehetic. He'll stand on our wall, crow, and my boys will heckle him

But it is not too bad, even at its worst.

My two large roos take turns crowing at each other in the morning. I'm grateful that my Ameraucana roo is NOT a loud crower like my GC Maran. Anyone want to buy a pair of GCMarans? they'll be a year old this month.

Good Morning!!!

I am working from home for a couple of hours, then going to the eye doctor so I can get some new glasses, going to Sears to exchange a shirt, going to WalMart to get ingredients for coleslaw for a superbowl party, and be home by 2:00pm because someone is picking up a couple dozen eggs. After that, I have no definite plans. There are lots of things I should do (clean house, start doing my taxes, clean up the backyard, etc.), but I'm not sure if any of it will get done.

I hope it doesn't rain. I moved here from Ohio, 10 years ago, and I have had my fill of rain. Besides, I have naturally curly hair, and when it rains, it is not a pretty sight. I would love to have cloudless, sunny days for the rest of my life, and never see a raindrop again.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Angie

Good morning,

DD and I are gonna make a list, check it twice and head to the hardware store to get all the ingredients for a homemade bator! Wish us luck.

Our flock is down to 2 hens. Penny (BO) is happy, cause every other chicken we have ever had, except for the one that is with her now, has picked on her something awful. Little does she know that it won't be long before the flock gets suddenly bigger.

Boys are doing boy scout weekend, so its a girl weekend! Yay~!

Hmmmm, today Im hoping to get some house cleaning done

then later today we are probably going off roading. Unless my husband doesnt get done helping with someone from his work make a pinewood derby car.

Im also hoping to get the backyard cleaned up a bit more so I can fence in the chickens. Im tired of poo on the back porch. At least they are pretty good about not being on there very often. But if my little girls leave the back door open the roo calls all the girls in and they hang out in the house. Not very fun!

Good Morning Arizona!!

I don't know if we are going to get a drop of rain out in my end of the valley or not. I still have fog all around and I can hardly see the mountains.

I got a new car yesterday, and will spend some time getting to know about it first hand. I got a Honda Fit Sport. Silver in color. This baby is like a little truck, only lots easier getting stuff in and out of the cargo area. It has some really great seat configurations. So far I love it. I may take a drive into the GoodYear swap meet. My daughter in law has a both there. She is the bead lady. I also was thinking about taking the dogs for a ride. What ever I do, i will have a smile on my face, a song on my lips, and most of all, The Lord in my heart.

Have a great day everyone. spend it wisely as we are exchanging a day of are life for it.

Good morning,
We're going to finally get the nest boxes in the coop today (the chicks are almost 17 weeks old !) and do some much needed yard work.
Since all three DDs will be at various sleep-overs, DH and I are going out tonight!

My first chicks haven't even started laying yet and I'm already planning the coop/yard expansion so I can get more.
My husband calls me the crazy chick lady, but with a smile on his face and helps me with every project I come up with.

(He has some pretty crazy projects sometimes too.)

8:00 AM
Good morning all-

Today we are taking the boys to swim lessons and then we are putting up drywall & mud in the laundry room. The DH will probably go out the neighbor tonight, so I will try to get caught up on month end for work.

1PM
HHAHAHHAHA- I just sat down, and apparently forgot to post this. FYI the Albertsons on Tatum & Shea has steaks BOGO, and the packages that are on their last days or so are $3 off a package. So I bought 5 lbs of boneless cuts for $10. Not a swinging deal, but decent. Making beef stew for dinner!
