Arizona Chickens

I was helping a newbie figure out how to upload pics and I uploaded this one.

Sunrise from the top of Squaw Peak... I took this back in September, enjoy.

Wow... that's BEAUTIFUL!!! Thank you for sharing that!

I'm off to go facilitate the produce co-op.

I definitely need to finish my coop today. The 14' run wall has been propped up for 3 weeks. Time to commit and make it permanent.

Have a great day everyone!!

I love the picture, Mahonri!

I use it for my desktop picture. I hope you don't mind.

If you find anymore beautiful shots like that, feel free to post them. I can never have too many pictures.

Morning everyone! Its so gorgeous outside but alas, have to many "inside" things to do today instead of hang outside with the birds. Bummer.

I just candled and I have 3 fertile eggs from my MF Cochin bantams! Yay Lil' Jerry, you are doing your job

Well my pics aren't so pretty...but check out what I got for $1 at a garage sale today!

Even if they only last one season, it will be worth the $1.

I actually got another 3 of the blinds 27" by 70", the perfect color blue for $10. Those were in great condition, and just HAPPEN to fit the 3 windows in my living room! I

It is a LONG time, I would also have a tube that you can syringe water into going down to your water cup so that you can add water without opening the bator. Good job.

That's funny, I thought that the 21 days was a pretty short time! I think that the 6 months till they lay an egg is a LONG time.

I have 18 eggs in the incubator right now, day 9. They are mostly green eggs with some brown. I have always had difficulty candling these things. Any tips?

For me, it isn't the 6 months...it is betweem months 4 & 6, when they look adult, but are just sitting around, not growing or doing anything cool. Plus they don't want to be held at that age, so no snuggles. Of course, there is always the 1 chick in the bunch that matures WAY faster, making all the others look bad when it lays at 19 weeks or something ridiculous.

I have been using the sightlight from my husband's pistol, it seems to get through the dark shells, and doesn't heat up as fast as the super-bright led flashlights.

Edited: I do take it off the pistol. I am dumb, but not that dumb.

Okay. yeah. The six months is really long. I was thinking about that yesterday. We only have 2 laying hens and it will be 5 or 6 months before any others lay eggs.

What makes the 21 days so long, though, is not knowing what you are going to get - like a box of chocolates!
