Didn't you just get a bunch? I think your blues/blacks are straight from the blue layer sommer has...

But they are boys

Welcome!! benjo!

I am sorry to hear about your loss. We recently had a massacre in our yard, too. A pack of coyotes dug a hole under the chicken yard and took most of our flock. All our favorites and our beautiful rooster, an Ameraucana from Pasofino farms. He was stunning. Such a shame that he became coyote dinner.

We are down to 2 laying hens. Wish I could help, but have none to spare.

To All - We are looking to get some buff orpingtons. Does anyone breed them here in AZ?? If not, I will be just getting hatchery day olds, or watching the sale section here for hatching eggs.

So far Im pretty sure I have 4 roos.

Black one (which is black and red)
Blue one (which is blue and red) which is the same as yours.
the mottled one (right next to the black one)
and a chipmunk one (not pictured)

and one is up in the air still. Keeping my fingers crossed its a girl, (its next to the dark chipmunk)
The black and white one is a girl
The dark red chipmunk is a girl

the two smallest Im not sure. (the ones pictured right in front)

Sommer and I agreed that I would only keep a few pullets and then she would get a roo later on to breed to the girls that I keep.

Soooooo, that means that the Mottled one is for you

If you want him. He's the biggest in the bunch.

Hahah! Like I don't have enough roos... If he turns out to be a looker, I'll give him some ladies

My little Patchling roo is getting more and more mottling. Tried to take a pic today, but didn't try hard enough. I think he might end up a winner for the project.

Laree - I want eggs from your frizzle!!! She is a cutie!

ArizonaDesertChicks - Here are those pics of the EE pullets from Mahonri. They are so beautiful. Lots of coloring. One looks like his hen, Sunshine. They got to free range today so I followed them with the camera. They don't stand still much, so this is what I got.
Can't wait to show picks of the new chicks if they will ever hatch. I know they aren't due until tomorrow, but I am so impatient...

The first two are of the darker pullet. The third shows the lighter in the front, and you can see the other in the back with the little cockerel in the middle. He is so cute!!

We did not go skiing

It was a gorgeous day, too. Would have been a perfect skiing day.

But, it took me all day to get the temp to be still, so it was a good thing I stayed home. We may get another opportunity if it snows again this weekend.

And this morning we are waiting for the crew to come and pump the septic tank. Yes, lucky us, it backed up yesterday. Every toilet overflowed and every shower drain, too. We have three bathrooms. We had to turn off the water. It was plungers and shop vacs and towels, oh my!

In the mean time, I am still waiting for my fuzzy butts to arrive.

Thanks for the pics of your chicks - here's more pics of my new babies - hopefully, all blue egg layers!:
