Arizona Chickens

I dunno, the hamhocks on it are exaggerated by the perspective of the picture. Note how the leg is extended to the lens. It has short feathers, so the legs look bigger in comparison to the lack of floofiness. It is still "dainty" looking in comparison to some of the other chicks--and it IS doomed to be gamey with FunnyHat as mom and Patchwork as dad.

If anything, I would say the buzz-cut would be an indicator of "dude-ish-ness".

your little boy is sooooooooooooooo cute..mine still does that at 9 but we really don't have any neighbors, so no big deal. On time when he was about 3 we went to my dd dance class, he had to pee and wanted to pee on the bushes out front...it was really funny but I didn't let him do it and he didn't understand WHY he couldn't

It is looking like the 23rd I will be down

, I just went over the calendar with DH...boy is he busy for the next 3 weeks and then some...I am so happy for him...

I would check with The Feed Barn (hatchery stock), they have gotten them in before. I would love to have some, too! Wish I had room in my flock. Already have way too many chickens! If you find some, let us know. I may get rid off some to make room. I love the gold lacing.

Y'all, just want to tell you - we are in

with our little Barred Rocks!! After Mahonri said so many times how sweet his was and so many others said the same about theirs, we decided to try them.

They literally jump on us when we go out. They are only 5 weeks old, but they are the friendliest birds we have ever had! They love to be held! Most of our chickens have tolerated it, but these girls beg! One of them got up on the highest perch she could get on and watched DD until she got close and then jumped to her arms!

For those wondering what breed to get - get yourself a couple of BRs!! If they are anything like these two, you won't regret it. Just had to share!

Time for history with the kiddos!

I have to agree with the barred rock statement...they are the best layers, friendly, layed during all the crazy weather up here, hatch out great, I usually have 97% hatches from them..this is only because I have some very young pullets and pullet eggs don't hatch as well.

I have a Roo and Hen of the Golden Laced Wyndottes, I just want more, I am trying to find the phone number of the guy that I got these two from...he only had GLW and he still had 5 hens and a roo...do you think that if I find the number I should call it...I got these birds last fall...he would probably think I was weird.

I have like 9 in the carton right now, hopefully a couple more before sunset. One is a GCMarans and the other is a Bearded Buff Laced Polish, one is from the Salmon Faverolle, another from the Cinnamon Queen, one from the black star, 3 from the Wheaten/Blue Wheaten girls, one from the PW leghorn.

That would give you some beautiful pure bred Wheaten/Blue Wheaten and some awesome Easter Eggers and if the GCMarans works and it's a pullet, you'll get Olive colored eggs.

The 23rd is my birthday! Haha. Better bring me something good. -totally kidding-

Good news: My husband is coming home from the hospital tomorrow. He's still got a good amount of rehab ahead of him, but he'll be home, which is awesome.

Bad news: I'll be dealing with him being home, so I'll be offline, probably until after the baby comes.
