Arizona Chickens

CH2~ I use a garden sprayer and I mix 50% old fashioned pinesol and 50% straight clorox bleach. I do not dilute it at all. Let it dry completely then cover with DE then fresh bedding and add birds. Happy birdies!! Thank you for asking about the smoking. If anyone else has asked recently I apologize. I have been extra busy lately and have not been online as much as usual. I really did quit smoking. All gone. I did sneak over to the neighbors house and bummed a smoke the other day because I flat could not stand it any longer. I refuse to buy any and I am not the bumming kind so I really don't need them. About 2 times a day I get a 30 second freak out craving and I grab some gum and go outside. I AM OFFICIALLY A NON-SMOKER

I shall never pick up another one. I never want to go through this again EVER. I did do something different this time to help me quit. All the times before that I tried to quit I failed but then I got to thinking, I never included God in the equation. Amazingly He provided the time, place, and will power I needed and I really have not been a screaming loon this time around.

So exciting. Had to cancel my trip to Tucson tomorrow, but I'm getting a new nephew, so that's a good trade. I will go to Tucson next week.
My nephew calls him (the baby) the "new kid". They don't have a name for him. Poor baby. They have only had 8 1/2 months to think about it.

Not sure the kids will ever go to sleep. They are excited.
Good night all!

Shaun, :C It really is so sad at this age. They love so endlessly but can't handle or understand death and loss. Give your little one a hug for me.

Cheerful, Every hour that passes I feel even better. It's great! YEA! :O Me too! I loved SG-1, it became my addiction very quickly. SG-Atlantis was pretty interesting. Is SG-U the new one? Whatever that one is just annoys me! I don't get it and it's starting to feel like lost.

GO NESSA GO! It's really great to hear when someone quits and is never going back. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!

So nice to meet Joel.

Sad to say goodbye to my Delaware and BO, but I talked him into taking the Ancona as well. (she was pretty, but just a tad flighty) More room for my Ameraucanas!

In a couple of weeks I'll just move the four Am. pullets from my New Year's hatch out from under the vert ramp and into the coop.

Before June, I'll be selling my GPC X LBL pullet... she's huge and beautiful... hasn't laid yet, along with my CA White Leghorn, Black Star and Cinnamon Queen. That will be most of my laying flock other than the Ams. and the two polish.

I have 10 Wheaten roos just over a month old. I'll give them to anyone who wants them from this thread. Otherwise, I'll probably do like AzDC did and take them to the Stock Shop next month as 10 roos eat a lot of feed. Don't know what I'll do with my BWA X SF roo. He is so pretty but I don't know where I'd put him. Perhaps in a breeding pen with the polish! Also ended up with a BWA X CQ roo (I think...jury is still out) pretty EE but won't have room for it either. It ended up being REDish like a production red of all things.

Time to take a nap and then off to give my blood to the lab so the Dr. can tell me how bad I've been on the 2nd.

Have a great Wednesday everybody... I'm having fish with Corn on the Cob out of the garden and a green salad for lunch!

I, too, have 3 roosters if anyone wants them in this neck of the woods.

They are about 3 months old now... 1 EE, 1 cochin mix, and 1 BO

Mahonri - I'm sooo jealous of the corn on the cob! My corn plants are only 2' tall!

News from North Phoenix.

Thanks to all who responded to my "forum problem" questions. I was in fact NOT logged in, so now am, and am able to reply and post again. I am still not getting notices of new posts, except temporarily, when I do the "unsubscribe" / "resubscribe" thing. . . .but oh well. . . . .I guess I can live with that, and no they are not in my spam folder, or anywhere else. . . .I check all of that stuff daily.

Autum, happily, is back with the flock. . . .not laying again yet, but at least not being broody. She and I are much happier.

This long cool spring is such a blessing. . . .I am actually still getting tomato's from the garden, at least if I can beat the wild birds to them. . . .the squash are starting to bloom. . . .and with any luck at all, I will have "cutting flowers" this year as well. . . . the gladiolas have recovered from their "chicken attack", as have most of the others that were looking promising. . . .have one rose bush that is just doing supubly. . . .3 others still "just getting started", but they were only planted last year, so that is within the range of normal.

I am home sick today. . . .putzing around the house. . . . .hope you all are having a terrific day, that all of your kids and critters are staying safe, and that this terrific weather continues to bless us. Carol

CAP1717- Star jasmine? Ok or not ok for chickens?

Mahonri- I'd take those roos, but we'll just eat them...Picked lots of beans last night.

Cheerful- The eyeball is good. I FINALLY had my lasic repaired. (they would only do 1 eye at a time) Nothing painful or bad, just annoying since I have the band-aid contact in which makes things fuzzy.

GC-YAY for babies!

RRR- Paprika stinks. Go Vampire Hunter D! (first one only)

Shaun- I am SO SORRY your son had to watch that. Hugs to him.

AZDC- Cinnabun is becoming a man. He started crowing yesterday and has been "sneak-attack mating" a few of the chicks. Poor things. On the plus side: this morning he jumped on Wayne of the Mohawk, which gives me hope Wayne is really a Waynette.

Good Morning Laree. . . .leaves and flowers of star jasmine toxic to humans and dogs (if eaten in sufficient quantities, unlikely). . . .. birds have a dramatically different kind of digestive system. . . .If I were you I'd try to find an avian vet to ask about this stuff. . . .I used to have parrots and was told that most stuff that is toxic to people is not toxic for them. . . .so sorry, just can't give a really good answer. . ..

Good enough. If Green Goddess Nursery can have a bajillion parrots running wild, and they aren't croaking, then I am not too worried. I want to put the plant on the other side of the yard, but just covering my bases.

RRR-VHD is an old movie. I never bothered with the graphic novels. It is totally cheeseball, but I love it.
