Arizona Chickens

Good morning everyone! Dozer hatched 1 egg, the other pipped, zipped, and then gave up. Wish I could find the camera.... I dont think the eggs that were covered in turkey-explosion are going to hatch *sniff*

Rufus- I have great hopes Mahonri will be back soon---Random thoughts: I would like to meet someone named "Pickles pickles".

He is haveing a foot problem I think. At first I thought it was spraddle leg or a slipped tendon but after looking close and moving his leg I think it is his foot. I don't know what to do for the poor little guy.

Pickles Pickles was quite a character. She lived in an old mobile home in New Mexico. She kept goats and chickens.

DL Unicorn was a poultry expert, and she lived in the Netherlands.

Southern 28 girl lived somewhere in the south and kept chickens and goats, but she also made soap.

I often wonder what happened to these people.

rufus - I wonder if you could email the former posters and let them know you remember them and wonder how they are doing. Edited to ad (ETA): if you searched for them and found an old post it might have an email link on it. Even if they don't do BYC anymore if the email is active they may get it.

And - Hurray for more pictures. I am particularly interested in the Americana mixes...because I suspect many of mine will look like those. Nice looking birds Shaun and ADC.

AZKat - I have an abundance of birds...but also a new broody. I will keep you in mind if we can't break her.

newchickmom09 - Sorry to hear about your duck with the food problem. I think there is a duck section. Maybe you can find some info there. Good luck. It is so hard when we don't know what to do for them.

--For those of you who don't know: I do NOT collect chicken decor. Come in my house with something, and you will get a shoe in your bum.

Yesterday we pulled the last chick out of the bator and put it with the others and was starting to turn everything off when my son came in and said a stray cat had a baby bird playing with it. I figured it was a dove and we would put it in a crate and give it a lamp until it could fly away on its own. He brings in this baby that could easily be the size of a nickle. So I put it in a bowl in the bator and I'm syringe feeding it. Its still alive so I must be doing something right. Its eyes are still closed, I thought they were like chickens but apparently not. Its starting to get fluff and a few times I have heard it peep. Very cute I must say.

I really would love the 8 ft chicken and I am not kidding, no way to get it we are just to busy up here

Laree...if you get to many chicken things you can send the extras my way...in my chicken hatching building that I am making around the top I am going to put farm stuff....I have some fun stuff already. I even have a Grumpy Hen that sock puppet made....it arrived probably two weeks ago..it is really cool..I am in the process of taking lots of pictures between cooling off so I will get a picture and post it

Also..I have some Aloha Eggs from Sommer in the hatcher...I am getting pictures of them too

It is picture day at my house

about the duck foot problem.....take medical tape and tape the foot flat. duck feet are suppose to be flat. I would leave it on for a couple of days and then be careful and take the tape off. With how fast birds grow it should now be flat, if it isn't redo the tape. When you tape the foot don't pull the tape to tight.

whoever asked about this if you send me a picture I probably can help more

Gretchen
