Mahonri: I'm sorry that you have to get out of raising chickens. Neighborhood drama is always the worst, and griping about flies is nonsense, this is the worst year for flies that we've had in a very long time. I wish that I had space in my flock, you have some really beautiful birds

Tofu -- I love seeing the pics of your new babies! I had two broodys set last year in the middle of the summer - other than me feeling sorry for them, they did fine and so did the chicks.

Mahonri - That's awful - I can't imagine - will they consider letting you just keep some hens - maybe a small number of hens with no roosters might be palatable for them. It'd would be great if they'd let you keep just enough hens to keep your family eating fresh eggs (use the 'pet' chicken persuasion on them).

Dar I'm so sorry to hear that!! You love what you do so much! Will you be able to get away with keeping a few hens for eggs if you were to move the coop to the SW corner of the lot? Maybe not having neighbors there would make that ok??

Mahonri~ that is terrible news! I am sorry you have to go threw something like this and with your neighbors non the less. I think the only reason I get away with having my birds is because my neighbors NEVER pick up there dog's poo and that alone causes a huge amount of flies and smell. I don't think anyone knows about my birds except for there egg song in the morning/afternoon.

Tucson Tofu~ I am always up for seeing pics of cute chicks/ducks/anything.
