Ohh no that is awful. Good luck finding a better person. I don't know what you can do about the first idiot.

I've had 5 of the 6 eggs hatch now... I couldn't resist bringing the exleg chick inside for a little bit. It fell asleep on my hand and seemed content. Now when I go out and sit by the nest box it walks away from the hens and sits next to me.

I don't know what brought me to this thread today(I don't even live in AZ anymore) but something told me that I needed to take a peek. Mahonri, I'm so sorry this is happening to you! You have been a source of much wisdom, not just when it comes to chickens! I don't understand. I thought ya'll we allowed to have them and had done everything you could to care for them in the middle of the desert. Thoughts and prayers coming your way. Hope you find peace in all that is going on around you at this time.

Major, major disappointment with my first hatch. I checked the nest while the broodys were off it, and there was a dead chick. I'm not sure if the egg got stepped on, or if the chick started to hatch prematurely, or what but it was dead. There was a lot of blood, and it was obvious that the yolk hadn't absorbed properly, and the intestines were partially out. There weren't any signs that it'd been pecked or anything, so I don't blame the broodys. I don't know if it was the right thing to do or not, but I cleaned up the mess and removed the dead chick from the nest. To make it even more disappointing, it was one of the two eggs from my Blue Andalusian, Inara, who is one of my favorite hens and my most reliable layer.

Busy week at work, Dr. gave me a new med last week I had a reaction to upping the dose as advised.

I've got to speak at a neighbors (no it's not the one who hates my chickens) funeral today and I'm sick as a dog.

Got home from work, went up the mountain... lasted 20 min. up and then it just got TOO HOT.
Came home took a COLD shower. (it didn't take) DW made me eat a little dinner... (very small portions of rice and chicken casserole) Went to teach my class in Spanish.
Felt like I could hardly breath and wanted DW nearby if I passed on. Finally felt so badly I went to the bath room and did some violent vomiting. (no more desire for chicken caserolle)
It helped a little. I hope I make it today...I've lost 13 lbs since last Thursday. (stress) I speak at my other neighbors funeral at 10. Hope it doesn't end up being the dead burying the dead.
I pray I don't have to check into the hospital this weekend as I want to attend a meeting Sunday morning in the Biltmore at 9AM and then I'm supposed to be in Mesa on Brown between Greenfield and Val Vista by 11:30Am on Sunday.
