Arizona Chickens

My grandparents built a house a lot like that one in Tucson. Probably in the late 40's or early 50's.
It went up for sale about 5 years ago and I thought about buying it. We just couldn't do it at the time.

Plumbing was installed here in the 60's. Before that, it was an outhouse. There was a screened in porch here too. It was turned into a room addition. We have a cellar under the living room, hallway and master bedroom. Its never been gone into. We close up the outside hatch because we kept getting bee's down there. We have an interior enterance under the carpet. Years ago the previous owners broke parts of the property up and sold it. It used to be a few hundred acres, now its only an acre. It sat empty for years from 2003-2009 and during that time it was vandalized, appliances stolen, ac units stole, the front door stolen, lived in by people that didn't belong here. Its taken alot of time and money to fix. Its still not completely fixed and has a lpng way to go.

This guy is living my dream house. But my wife does not want to live in Mexico again. This is real interesting for guys, but it might be a big bore for ladies.

If the Spanish bugs you, just turn down the volume. These are all linked together. Igualon is the interesting one.

Hello,

I've been a member for quite a while but haven't really posted much. I am trying to change that!

Anyway, I am wondering if there are any breeders of good quality Black Copper Marans in Az? I am south of Tucson so I suspect everyone more than likely live north of me. I have ordered hatching eggs in the past but haven't had very good luck hatching them.

I appreciate the help.

I'm looking for someone to possibly butcher my meaties. I am all prepared to do it myself but someone at the feed store mentioned someone in Gilbert maybe that did it for $1 a bird. This person mentioned that the people who butcher were Amish. Does anyone know these people?

Hi there! There's an family that sells them down in the town of Hereford, but I can't remember their name. They used to post here on BYC. I used to see that a guy sold FBCM eggs on eBay from here in Tucson, but I haven't looked there recently. BtW, Hello there.

Ltdmom - There is a lady in Tucson with black copper marans. I know they were young at the begining of the summer and not ready to lay yet. I will look and see if I have her contact info still

Today I lost a little chick in a chick waterer. I even put rocks in it to prevent this. A real bummer.

Bob's Henhouse :

Beverlyl, I pay 11.99 for Kruse's at Dales, so 10.80 sounds pretty good. When I buy Layena it's 13.49 a bag. How is the quality? Do the hens like it? It's almost as close for me to go to Wickenburg as to Dales. Where in Wickenburg do you get it? I usually only get 15 bags at a time, but can definately buy more if the price is better.

Wow - I pay $16.99 for Layena. Anybody know of the best place to get feed on the west side of town (Glendale area)?

Well.. I can't believe I'm doing it again. I've got new chicks - 2 weeks old. It's like an addiction - I've got the light brown, white, and blue/green
eggs, but I want even more variety. I'm going to try a couple Welsummers and barnevelders (plus polish and SS). My last 2 barnevelders didn't
lay so well and were such scaredy cats (but beautiful). I'm going to try again and see if I can get tamer ones this time (I bought the last two at
4 weeks old so that could be the reason).
