I bought some Kruse starter, layer, and grower in Phoenix for 12 to 15 per 50# bag. Good stuff, long drive.
Has anyone tried Layena, or the newer Purina layer that has better ingredients? I'd like to find the Kruse, or similar quality, somewhere closer to Casa Grande.
Your not going to find anything in town that's quality. Powells only carries Arizona Feed. I don't even bother with Coolidge. I end up going to Phoenix every 7-10 days for feed. I'm getting Purina at the Mesa Feed barn.
NoSkiveez,
Powell's is definitely too high! Are you using Layena? Coolidge had OK prices, but DDGS (most likely from the Maricopa ETOH plant) is the main ingredient. They also put mineral oil in the starter :-(
How did you decide on Mesa Feed Barn? Have you any experience with other places in the east valley?
Sorry to hear about your chick. I've used big gravel in a water dish, and (so far) no problems. Did the same for the Muscovy ducklings, but now they are half the size of the laying hens, and swim or splash whenever they can
they are comedians.
