Arizona Chickens

Hi fellow Zonies, joined BYC a while ago, but this is my first time on this thread. I just had to post though because a few of you mentioned really liking Manna Pro Egg Maker. Wanted to say that my local Walmart sells it for $11.37 for 40#. Have not tried it because they only sell the crumble not the pellets, and my hens are just too wasteful with crumble. I get Layena for $12.99 for 50#.

Also, Mahonri, I will PM you about pullet with eye infection.

Hope everyone is enjoying our fabulous, unbelievably gorgeous weather! (Did not turn a/c on in the house all day yesterday, and it only got up to 81!!!)

I e-mailed you and PM'd you back.

the e-mail was returned saying "user unkown".

I had just caught her to get her ready for you.

If you can't pick her up before the end of today, I'm just going to put her down.

Mahonri, thanks a bunch again for the eggs, and the roosters. The eggs are in, keeping my fingers crossed. I'm still waiting for the last batch to hatch. No one is piping yet. I think something went wrong. I'm hoping th enew incubator has better luck. I'm going to put in another 5 to 10 dozen, just to keep them company.

If I had known about the hen with the eye infection I could have picked it up yesterday, but it's 50 some miles from here to there.
I forgot, what did you say you pay for egg maker? Not that I need more eggs, but a variety every now and then might be more complete nutrition.

I'm thinking of putting some barred rocks on CL. What I really should do is put them ALL on CL and let people pick what they want, but I'm sure my boys would revolt.

Pet Club has Purina Layena for $12.99; jsut saw it this morning when I went to check out the new one a couple of miles from my house in south Tempe. Didn't purchase any, but it's good to know about in case I run our of food and need an emergency supply. I'll still be traipsing across town for the Manna Pro, though. I was actually hoping they would have other poultry supplies (feeders, waterers, etc. Nope, none.

Gallus,

Thank you for taking on the "Save the one-eyed Wheaten" project.

I hope she makes it and that come December she'll be laying blue eggs for you.

Someone from my add on CL is coming to buy my 2 RIR and 2 EEs.

I'll be down to 34 chickens!! I've still got to sell a couple Blue Wheaten Roos.

I wonder which Pet Club is closest.Tempe or extreme north Phoenix?

If they sell Layena they should sell flock raiser... I wonder how much that is?

I saw layena, both crumbles and pellets and scratch; they said they also carry chick starter, but none was out. They mentioned that they carry another brand, and named the name, which I have now forgotten, but it was not anything I recognised.

Superstition Feed in AJ (they are owned by Pet Club).

So far we are hopeful about the "one-eyed Wheaten project." DBF thinks that she may actually get to keep the eye, so he thinks it's worth treating medically before resorting to surgery. She is on prescription oral and topical (eye drops) antibiotics, and an anti-inflammatory pain reliever. Keeping my fingers crossed that the new medications will help her fight the infection. She is a beauty!

Bob's Henhouse :

Mahonri, some of the first batch are pipping. Yeah! They are running just a little behind.. Have to see tomorrow how many make it out, and how many are still trying. I'll post pics as they hatch.

Wahoo!!!

If I can get them laying again, I'll have to get out the bator!
