The $10 and $5 is only if you are attending the banquet on Saturday night.

Please make a day of it and come see all the chickens, pigeons, turkeys, peacocks, and game birds. There are games for the kids, too. Someone entered a couple chickens that most of us have never heard of. I can't remember what they are, but it is a long word starting with an A. Anyway, please come.

Are you talking about the Tucson show? I want to go but I can only go on Sunday...do you still think it is worth it to go? Or will there not be as much stuff to do on Sunday?

Thankfully I'm actually kind of close to Tucson (as close as I am to Phoenix) so it's not that bad of a drive.

Can somebody please post the poultry show info again?
I know it was posted here before and I checked backwards, but it must have been awhile ago.
I can't find anything about where it is or the times online.
We might be in Tucson this weekend.

If we go, how will we know each other? Should we all wear or carry something?

Bob,
a while ago you had a pic with marbles in the water... How long do you keep the marbles in the water? My chickens seem "smart" enough now not to throw themselves in the water anymore but I just wanted to be sure.

Oh, neat! We need to do that, then. Is it Friday and Saturday?

Quote:
The poultry show is at the Pima County Fairgrounds, in Thurber Hall.
Friday night is coop-in from 4-9pm
Saturday the doors open at 6:00am, judging starts at 9:00am, and junior showmanship starts at 10:00am. Small raffle items are drawn in the afternoon.
Sunday the doors open at 7:00am, junior show starts at 8:00am, awards ceremony is at 10:00am, grand raffle (animals, quilt & cage) is at 11:00am, and after the raffle people are allowed to coop-out.

I think Saturday would be the day to go because sometimes people who entered from out of town, take their birds home Saturday evening.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

AAAGGGHHH!!!! I was outside hanging up the laundry when I think I heard one of my chicks crow! They are supposed to be girls, but that sounded an awful lot like a new crow. I think they are only about 2 months old, so that seems early to me. I will take pictures later. I hope y'all can help me figure out who it was.

I had to go to WalMart today and because I was out of chicken feed, picked up some Egg Maker crumbles and Calf Manna.

The Calf Manna was $14.32 for 25#. I have been buying puppy chow and adding it to the layer feed, for extra protein, which is about $10.00 for Ol Roy; and buying a conditioning supplement, about $5.75, for the showbirds. So, if this Calf Manna works, I will be saving a buck and won't have to worry about mixing up 2 different kinds of feed.

The Egg Maker was bought out of necessity, not want. OK Feeds sells the Nutrena and will take a $1.00 off each 50# bag, only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Of course, we ran out of feed on Sunday

So, I will be heading to OK Feeds tomorrow to pick up a couple of bags and with the discount, cost me about $11.00 per 50#.

So, I'll let you all know how the Calf-Manna works.

ca, I actually use polished rocks from the 99cent store, they are a little flatter, might give the chicks a better chance at regaining their footing, but rocks, marbles, anything to keep the water from being too deep. I leave them in for a week or maybe two, depends on the size of the chicks. After just a few days they should be able to keep from drowning.

a2ms, I'm jealous, I want a well stocked WalMart like yours! And you only pay $11 for Nutrena after the discount? That's a HECK of a deal! I'm paying $12 for Kruse's
